Chiefs 09 Schedule

Wow! Has anyone seen our schedule for next year? It looks like it'll be a tough one....again.  Is it just me or does it seem like we always get shafted with hard schedules every year?  Oh well this will be a good test for us.  Any record predictions for the 09 season?

Home        Away

Denver                  Denver

Oakland                Oakland

San Diego            San Diego

Cleveland             Baltimore

Pittsburg               Cinncinati

Dallas                   Philidelphia

N. Y. Giants          Washington

AFC East Team           AFC South

Ah, so we get

the AFC North and the NFC East.

Should be interesting.

Do we really have to play the Chargers..

Every single year, 2 times a year! Someone must be out to get the Chiefs ;)

by Ben S on Nov 12, 2008 12:55 AM CST reply actions

they're on the decline

the Donkeys/Chiefs rivalry of the 1990’s will be revived (assuming our rebuilding works and Denver actually re-learns how to play defense)

If everything is the same

we will go 7-9, but after we add another OL, DE, MLB, and WR we get to 9-7.

If we have one more solid draft

and Thigpen is “for real”, I can see us sweeping San Diego and Oakland and possible winning the division. San Diego is not impressing me, I think they are declining, and if Jamarcus Russell doesn’t pull a Thigpen, the Raiders are going to flounder, again…

Remember, we will likely get to play the worst team in the AFC East and the AFC South ( though those are two of the better divisions, at least record-wise, right now).

by PVChiefsfan on Nov 12, 2008 8:03 AM CST up reply actions

Oh...and one more point

The AFC East opponent will be the one that finishes last this season. So if that’s NE (which is a possibility) we’ll also play against Brady.

Just keep matriculating the ball down the field boys.

Age

I think are ridiculas amount of rookies will get better and we will finish 8-8.

What about 2009?

This was already discussed

…of course NOW you understand why I gave Herm another 2 years to get to the playoffs before I’d support the management and say I was wrong about their rebuilding. This schedule is 2 months old. I never make an uninformed bet :)

If we get to the plaoffs with this team on that schedule…I was wrong about Herm and Carl and they can stay until they are gray.

You think this year was bad? Manning, Roethlisberger, Romo, Quinn, McNabb…next year. Haha, good luck to us. This will be Deja Vu all over again UNLESS we get some veterans signed in the offseason cause the injuries we have now….don’t bode well for the guys that we’re supposed to be “evaluating”.

Just keep matriculating the ball down the field boys.

by THE_TRUTH on Nov 12, 2008 8:19 AM CST reply actions

we won't sign many veterans

and the ones we do won’t be big names.

I can tell you that right now

by PVChiefsfan on Nov 12, 2008 9:03 AM CST up reply actions

Then that might be a problem

I’m really not too thrilled at the mid-season acquisitions we’ve signed so far. Honestly I kind of view them as warm bodies to fill the spots and haven’t made many comments about them.

IF we don’t pull a Ryan Leaf in the draft for the positions we need and they pan out somewhat I think we could be competitive (not attributing wins to that…but not getting blown out). My concern is that Chiefs mgmt. will keep some of the players that are injured to see how they’ll pan out next year by giving them more play time ala Brodie this year.

IF TG and LJ are gone…big shoes to fill which is a distinct possibility

I just don’t want anyone to get their hopes up and get REALLY disappointed after the last few games. Hope for the best and expect the worst.

That is an EXTREMELY tough schedule IMHO for any team, especially one where Arrowhead looks like their personnel played in West Beirut this year.

Just keep matriculating the ball down the field boys.

TG

There’s your biggest hole to fill. Eventually we will have to replace TG.

Blame my wife!

If we trade him pre-draft

we can grab Chase Coffman. Then we could watch him hurdle defenders for the next 10 years.

Seriously

I don’t think Tony is going anywhere.

I don't either

that was just me being a MIZZOU homer.

If Thigpen keeps this up

I’m hoping…..and praying…..Tony finishes his career in KC

by KansasCityShuffle on Nov 12, 2008 1:23 PM CST up reply actions

We're not going be signing many veterans

and we won’t need to be. I think we’re filling out roster well and if you’re not liking the Bradley signing, the Gillberry(based on upside alone), and now Babin then you’re not paying attention. There are teams out there like the Seahawks throwing around 5th round picks for players they only use for several weeks. Our signings at least have not only potentail but opportunities here to capitalize on it. I didn’t like the “Ginger” Boiman signing but even I’m coming around on him as I am McGraw after last weeks performance(s)…

In my opinion we’ve been very selective and wise about the talent we’ve brought in. The only one’s I’ve had problems with are Novak who I knew would correct himself, the continued starts by Macintosh (who now has pressured relieved off him with the Spread), and cutting Nap Harris. The only mid-season signings who I don’t likely see back next year are Ingle Martin, Andrew Carnahan, and David Macklin

by KansasCityShuffle on Nov 12, 2008 1:32 PM CST up reply actions

Quinn?

As in Brady Quinn?

I love how some on here aren’t quite so sure about Bones after three straight awesome games, two of which were on the road against decent defenses and one at home against an excellent defense, but we are apparently willing to get completely behind Brady Quinn.

The same Brady Quinn that has started all of one game in his NFL career, where he played at home against the absolutely terrible (I mean, they made Damon Huard look good) Denver Broncos’ D.

Not to say that he won’t be good, just that it is awfully early to put him in the same list of QBs that includes Eli Manning, Tony Romo and Donovan McNabb (Roethlisberger is a debatable member of the list as well, although he has at least proven that he is halfway decent).

by rockchalk on Nov 12, 2008 6:28 PM CST up reply actions

I've seen Quinn play college ball

…but I can’t say the same for Thigpen. I try to tivo the Carolina games but my tivo must be broken.
Quinn looked incredibly confident and poised playing his first game especially since it was ona NATIONAL stage. Everyone was glued to that game and comparatively speaking Thigpen was ostracized for his play.

So keep loving all you want. My question is would most (at this point) take Thigpen or Quinn if they could? Yeah, I thought so.

Just keep matriculating the ball down the field boys.

Eventhough the schedule seems hard next year

It’s impossible to tell if those teams we have to play next year will be that good. Coming into this season, I felt we had an easy schedule against the NFC South and the AFC East. Those were arguably the worst divisions within their conferences at this time last year. The Jets and Dolphins were in disarray, the Bills were only rebuilding themselves, Atlanta was a joke, the Saints were all offense, and Carolina and Tampa were good defensively but hit or miss on offense. This season, those two divisions are among the better in the league. A lot changes over an offseason and they play the games for a reason.

by Sudden on Nov 12, 2008 10:43 AM CST reply actions

True dat

if Rothlisberger keeps up his recent TD/INT ratio, the Steelers probably won’t be super-fantastic =)

by PVChiefsfan on Nov 12, 2008 11:32 AM CST up reply actions

Im not so sure

I think Tony may get a little bit more of a look in the offseason and I think Carl may look into it but i think that Carl would never pull the trigger because he wants to sell tickets, and Tony G sells alot of them

by IamtheGreatest on Nov 12, 2008 1:42 PM CST reply actions

but....

my point is it is a possibility
