Larry Johnson to Play Sunday Against the Saints
Asked if Johnson would play Sunday, Edwards said, "Oh, yeah. Our offense has changed a little bit, but we're still going to try to run the ball, with him being one of the better backs in the league."
An emphatic "Oh, yeah" from Herm Edwards? I consider that a pretty strong sign that Larry Johnson still fits in the Chiefs plans for the foreseeable future. With the woman who he was involved with during an October arrest suing him, things don't appear to be going Larry's way any time soon though. Probably the only thing he could do to win back his lost Kansas City Chiefs fan base is go all out in yards, touchdowns, leadership, etc. for the rest of the year. Personally, I don't see that happening.

Noes!
I was a big LJ supporter, but I am fearful of him coming back with the new offense.
I don’t think he fits, he doesn’t pass block well, and will pout if he doesn’t get the ball even if the team is moving down the field. I hope I am wrong, but he hasn’t shown anything to the contrary.
Don't confuse your sentiments
with the entire team’s fanbase. Larry would just have to have maybe have 1 to 2 more games with yardage and TD’s like he did against the Broncos and I think many would redeem him. We’re still a struggling franchise in the sense we can’t seem to win and if for whatever reason LJ’s power running style makes the difference in putting us over the top than it will be welcomed.

Your fanbase estimation is true, but that assumes LJ can fit the spread. I don't feel he can or will.

My post was in response to Chris
but I agree with you he doesnt fit the spread. We’ve been keeping it creative enough over the last 3 games though that Chan’s earned enough of my trust to think he’ll fit him in

KCS, I don't necessarily think you are wrong, but the thought of LJ coming back makes me worried for the team.

Understood
I just look at us being so injury depeleted (even though its on D) that any starter returning is a good thing, especially a former Pro Bowler. And to me personally LJ has proven to me in the little time hes played this season he still has it. Our offensive line was absolutely atrocious early on and our rushers were leading the league in make yardage for themselves not their blockers. He is a starter afterall and consistency is one thing we haven’t had all season

For instance
I may be an idiot but I think an LJ draw on the extra point conversion would had been more successful

Could we have been in that position with LJ in our new offense though?
I truly fear when LJ comes back, Gailey reverts to the run only offense, and we face 8-9 man fronts again.

We're speaking in hypotheticals
so its pointless. But we shall see come Sunday how it shakes out. I think the league overall is doing running backs by commitee’s so I expect to still see a lot of play calling with Charles & Savage in the backfield

It can't hurt
I doubt that LJ is going to come in an act like this team owes him anything. That is probably what there meeting today was about. I think he is ready to prove himself. The spread may give him more one on one open field plays.
Indecision is the key to flexibility
Well lets try him at Linebacker
what could it hurt at this point?
"But what do I know, I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
I think LJ will fit in great
and he’ll do fine. The one thing this team hasn’t had in a long time is a passing threat. Now with Thigpen going banana’s and LJ finally back, defenses should be guessing on draws or bombs, I-formation run or play action, etc. I think Sunday’s game will be very interesting. Imagine if you will, LJ rips off a big gain on the ground and Thigpen hurries the team up to the line for a no-huddle. What’s next? Nope, we don’t have to give it right back to LJ, NOW we can pass!
LJ = Predicatable
until he humbles his Ego, and learns to pass-block, and receive. And he inflicts that on the whole offense, unless he also humbles himself, and quits hitting the media, complaining about lack of carries.
Larry needs to learn that the Chiefs come before Larry Johnson. He’s got his money – time to /earn/ it.

Pass blocking
That will be huge. In the spread he has to block and that may be scary. That will be the true test with his selfishness.
Indecision is the key to flexibility
that's my point
Can he get off the “I gotta run the ball” high horse,, and learn to pass block with his whole heart? The team needs him to do it, otherwise the opponents will /know/ it’s a run play every time they see him.

Agree whole heartedly
We will see sunday. We are kind of stuck here in this RB situation. The Saints run D is pretty good. Their pass D sucks something fierce. I work out of Louisiana, so I see a lot of Saints games.
Indecision is the key to flexibility
As I recall...
LJ likes to run against high-rated run-stopping Ds. Kinda puts a chip on his shoulder. We’ll see.
If our passing game continues to improve, maybe we can make a good showing there.
GO CHIEFS!!

It's very good thing LJ coming back...
i believe He will fit well in the new scheme…don’t worry about LJ short in blocking skill, we can just make a draw play / screen pass where the blitz coming. But the most important thing is the past 3 weeks our offensive linemen playing very well…thus we improved in passing and running game.
AD
LJ blocking
In all the years he has been here he has never shown the willingness to block. This will be a huge problem because almost every play the RB is having to pick up someone and this has been one of the biggest reasons that we have started moving the ball.
I am willing to give him a try but if he just sucks it at blocking then he gets to ride the bench the rest of the season unless it is a short yardage power formation.
Here's my take
Our pass game has come alive in the last few weeks. So this may be the end of teams stacking 8 guys in the box to shut down LJ. If they do, then Bones will burn them with downfield shots to Bowe, Bradley and Gonz. So LJ coming back adds a credible threat that teams have to account for, at least a little more than they had to account for Charles and Savage.
Charles will still be the 3rd down back for that extra blocking protection.
I think LJ can and will be productive in this offense. Regardless of whether I like him or not.
+1
Hate him or not, he will help this offense. Despite the success in recent weeks, it shouldn’t be ignored that we haven’t won a game without LJ getting his yards in a long time. I’m in the camp that his failure had more to do with the line than with his effort. I don’t expect him to get 25 carries anymore, but I think he helps us win this weekend.
If he will not block
that puts us back in the pre-dictable category, remember even under Vermiel, they pulled LJ on passing situations in favor of T-Rich. If LJ is in it is run, if he is out it is pass. They are going to have to use a combo of LJ/Charles, LJ/ Savage to make it work with LJ. Savage our undrafted rookie free agent picks up the blitz better than LJ. Chris time for you to get pissed, sorry, in the offseason they need to move LJ, and try to get something in return, he is too one-dimensional.
What about LJ-Cox?
how’s Cox’s pass blocking? In that case, LJ’d better have great hands
