They are pathetic offensively, averaging just 2.81 yards on first down. That's by far the worst average in the league, more than a half-yard worse than the next lowest team, Cleveland.
On defense, the Chiefs are yielding 5.76 yards on first down. That's 29th and doesn't look quite so bad only because the worst team, Detroit, is allowing an astounding 8.47 yards.

First down is the down most determined by the coaching staff. Once you hit 2nd and 3rd down its more situational. With first down you ALWAYS know what you’re facing. HERM IS PATHETIC.

I'm suprised
I can’t believe that we are averaging that high of output on 1st down. The Denver game must be inflating the numbers because it seems like the Carolina game we lost yards on every first down we had.
