Morning Update (Ain't Even Close Edition)
- The updates from One Arrowhead Drive are becoming fewer and fewer. Check out Herm's latest Q&A.
- Bob Gretz reminds us that quarterback troubles aren't unique to Kansas City.
- Brian Waters said the play of the offensive line this year compared to last year "Ain't even close." [Gulp] Really??
- The guys over at Arrowhead Addict are trying to gain momentum for their 'Cowher-Vick 2009' campaign.
- The best college quarterbacks potentially available next year: Out of this group, who would you take?
- Who knew Dwayne Bowe and I both watched Full House growing up.
- Jon Yoon weighs in on the 'trade LJ' talk.
- Tom Brady, the QB to whom Bernard Pollard will be forever linked, finally had his knee surgery.
- And from the 'It was bound to happen sooner or later department': Pacman Jones got into a fight (with one of his own security detail) in a hotel restroom on Tuesday night.
So, I was on the plaza last night walking to my car probably around 6:30ish and who do I see jogging down the street with a pit bull looking dog? Tank Tyler. Glad to see he's staying in shape. It's shown this season.

I don’t get their obsession with Vick. I really don’t. He was a horrible QB when he played, his only big asset was scrambling, most scrambling QBs drop off quickly at 29 (and he’ll be 30 and out of the league for two years so he won’t be in game shape), and that’s to say nothing of the baggage he brings (it wasn’t just the dogs that were the problem). I could see if it was somebody like Romo or Carson Palmer…someone who’s demonstrated great talent as a passer who’s a high payoff reclamation project. But the AA guys seem to be in love with Vick just because he’s a name.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
Yeah, I don't understand it one bit
I think they’re stretching, big time, as evidenced by this quote:
What the dude did was terrible, but these were animals, not people. Animals like deer and, well, moose. Domesticated animals that I’m very fond of, but animals nonetheless.
I would take Huard over Vick if I was a contender.
I have to disagree
Vick’s teams made the playoffs when he had no one. He is a huge threat. He also solves a little bit of the Chiefs problem of needing to upgrade big time on OLine.
Herm Edwards is a retard.
He had no one
Other than the top rushing attack in the league.

Not everyone over at AA is obsessed with Vick. That is just Adam :)

No way to Vick
And NOT because of the dog thing, he will have paid his debt. But he is just not a passing QB and showed no signs of learning how to be one. As UC said they drop off in talent much faster than pocket QBs.
I can kind of see Waters point
I think the O-line has shown flashes of competence at times, but the right side has been god awful, and there has been too much inconsistency to really get too excited about their play.
As for Cowher and Vick, I think Cowher is a pipe dream and Vick is a nightmare.

College QBs
This is my feelings on the list Gretz had so far, I say either yes, no or ?, this is as to would I draft this QB in the first 3 rounds. Several of the players I would look at taking later as a project but not in the early part of the draft. And just because I say yes doesn’t mean I would take them in round 1.
The two things I consider most important are completion % and games started – can’t teach accuracy and I want lots of film (no one year wonders)
So here is my short comments:
RHETT BOMAR/Sam Houston State (SR) – No – Pct under 60%
SAM BRADFORD/Oklahoma (SO-R) – No – not enough starts
TOM BRANDSTATER/Fresno State (SR) – (?) – if % gets above 60% for career
NATHAN BROWN/Central Arkansas (SR) – (?) – level of competition a question
HUNTER CANTWELL/Louisville (SR) – NO – not enough starts/bad %
RUDY CARPENTER/Arizona State (SR) – Yes – good numbers over long career
CHASE DANIEL/Missouri (SR) – (?) – system QB & size questions
NATE DAVIS/Ball State (JR) – Yes – good numbers
Can't see
Chase Daniel being taken in the first three rounds, and honestly, I’d be quite surprised if he’s drafted at all. I’d bring him in as an undrafted free agent though.

That is why I put a ?
I think at the highest he is a third round pick, but I disagree on UFA, I think he will be a 4th or 5th round pick as a project for some team. And I think that he would be worth a look at that point, he seems to have good leadership qualities that I like along with good field vision and accuracy.

I need your help with something if you don’t mind. I know the AP site shys from Politics, but this is important.

I am leaning toward Primetime,UCrawford or AngryJ as as a running mate.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...
I don’t know if that’s how you guys operate over at RoyalReview with your pseudointellectual ramblings comparing the prose of David Foster Wallace to the Royal’s infield and you hipster adoration for Darrell Porter, but here we have RESPECT for the cinematic work of hometown hero Eddie Griffin and his collaborations with Carmen Electra. Good day to you sir, good day!

this whole thing has confused me
more than anything.
Signing Vick
Would be the only thing that would get me to stop being a Chiefs fan. Move to Oakland, bring in John Elway as the GM, but don’t bring in Vick. Let him retire with his millions of dollars and become a figure of obscurity.
Millions of dollars?
The dude is broke. Even before he went to jail he was being sued for not repaying loans.
Vick is a joke.

Couldn't agree more
If the Chiefs sign Vick I would immediately burn everything I own with a KC arrowhead on it. I can’t think of too many other things that would make me say that. Even if the team moved I might hold on to my life-long fandom. But Vick??? I could NEVER forgive them. It’s not just the dogs; it’s the drugs, the attitude, the terrible passing ability, the fact that scrambling QBs take a huge plunge after their first blown-out knee (Culpepper), and….oh yeah, he made a profit out of torturing and killing dogs. If he “didn’t bet” on the fights, that means he took part just because he’s a sick bastard and that is not the type of person I want associated with my hometown team.
If we want a crappy quarterback that can scramble
then we might as well sign Vince Young. He’s younger, not a dog-killing lunatic, and Tennessee is not working out for him.
"not a dog-killing lunatic"
Said so frankly, tongue-and-cheeky.
Love it
