Branden Albert Returns To Practice

The Chiefs rookie left tackle returned to practice on Tuesday morning, according to the Star.  No word on whether he was limited or not, but the fact that he's back in full gear this early is a good sign for him playing in the Tennessee game and hopefully a good indication that his elbow dislocation was relatively minor.

This also opens the question, who will be starting at right tackle for the Chiefs in that game?  The Titans have a very solid pass rush on their defensive line with Albert Haynesworth (5 sacks), Kyle Vanden Bosch (3 sacks), Tony Brown (3.5 sacks), and old vet Jevon Kearse (1.5 sacks).  So I think it's safe to say that Damion McIntosh going up against this line could prove disastrous for both the short and long-term health of Brodie Croyle.

Question is, will the Chiefs decide that it's time to give Herb Taylor or Barry Richardson some playing time on the right to see what they're capable of, or will they stick with McIntosh for the sake of more "continuity"?

Titans are going to kill us

There is no way our O-line can stop their D-line. We should sign some scrub to start at QB because who ever plays is going to be killed. On second thought lets just start Thigpen then once he is injured we will not have to think about him again.

Seriously we need to revamp the O-line during this bye week and see if we can improve the performance for the rest of the year. With the line playing this poorly it is really hard to evaluate the rest of the young talent on the team.

And I really like the guy. I wish I would’ve known about it.

The PARADE is still royally pissed about not even working out Willie Anderson

This is in no way counter youth movement as we’ve got Brian Water as our offensive captain. He’s not going to play forever so maybe bringing in another veteran pro-bowler to shore up RT. It seems to have massively helped rookie QB Joe Flacco and the Ravens’ running game, in Baltimore where he is playing RIGHT TACKLE. The PARADE attempted to bring this to your attention on 9/3 and again on 9/16 (cleverly disguised as a Rex Grossman post).

I Agree With You

Like I always said, the only time it’s a problem to have older players on your offensive line is if that’s all you’ve got on your offensive line. Anderson could have helped us a lot this year, regardless of who was starting at QB.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

If Albert is back and healthy

enough to function, I say give Taylor and/or Richardson a chance to play on the right side. Move McIntosh to backup left tackle where he is more comfortable anyway. If Richardson is really too green to play there (don’t believe it) then let’s try to get someone (a veteran) in there who can at least do a serviceable job. Taylor and Richardson could not be any worse than McIntosh and Jones.

Taylor

Taylor’s listed as the #2 RT on the depth chart. Maybe #1 next week? I’m all for it.

Herm clearly stated today that the starting RT against TEN will be...

SACINTOSH!!!!

Q: When Branden comes back are you guys going to move T Herb Taylor to the right side?

EDWARDS: "Herb is a swing tackle, he can play both sides. We’d like to keep those guys together. (T) Damion (McIntosh) has been moved from left tackle to right tackle so he’s kind of learning his way.

I guess SacIntosh gets all season to prove that he plays LT poorly, but he plays RT – hold on, he doesn’t really actually “play” RT so much as he just lines up there and watches defensive lineman blow up his QB. Here’s the link if you’re interested…

Wow I thought I would never see it in writing

“Herb…can play both sides” vs. “Damion (McIntosh) has been moved from left tackle to right tackle so he’s kind of learning his way.” So we don’t play the guy you know can play, we opt instead to try and play the guy who is is learning.

That in itself is evidence enough for me that Herm is at best a position coach who can’t evaluate lineman’s talent or lack thereof. Not an NFL Head Coach.

Please

This is the one thing I just can’t figure out with Herm. Mcintosh is going to get a QB killed!
Youth movement or not? Old and craptacular is better than young and green. ME thinks not!

At this point, I don't think we have anything

to lose by lining up Herb Taylor at right guard and Barry Richardson at right tackle. They are both young, they can’t be any worse than what we have, and they may actually get better as the season continues. At best, they may do some good and learn something. At worst, they will be the same as what we have and can’t hurt a season which is already looking bleak.
