At some point, don’t the Chiefs have to admit moving Hali to right defensive end was a bad idea? Twice this year he has faced inexperienced left tackles, and twice has failed to make an impact. Oakland’s Mario Henderson, who had previously never started a game, handled Hali just fine in Week 2. Sunday, Carolina’s Frank Omiyale, who also had previously never started a game, made Hali disappear again.
This is becoming an increasingly valid point.

I want to say the B word
please let me say it! 1st round pick that has a high of 8 sacks in a season, is always injured, and vanishes against scrub OT. He is a bust! I feel better now. Michael Johnson anybody?

I'm down
With Michael Johnson.
I would be careful with the word bust because I think Hali is can still serve a purpose. Should we have drafted him in the 1st round? No. Does he still have value to us? Yes, in the right situation.

He needs to go back to LDE. Next year we need to find another DE and make Hali a very serviceable backup.

By my way of thinking
That is what a bust is. If you draft a guy to be a pass rushing DE, because lets face it Hali is not good against the run, and he can not handle that then he is a bust.
He was a round 2 or 3 talent not a round one, that year we reached to fill a need instead of BPA and it is coming back to bite us.

Hali is fine
at Left Defensive End. If we had Dorsey and McBride in the middle with Hali and Allen on the outside, our DLine would be set. I don’t think Hali will ever be a top 2 guy on the line in a 4-3 but he definately can be a starter. He was a little bit of a reach but a bust is someone who plays like Damion McIntosh. Hali is servicable

1st round picks
They should be more than servicable, these are the picks that you build your team around. If they become backups or situational players in their 3rd year then they are busts as a first rounder.
Hali doesn’t seem to have the ability to be the RDE as even backup LTs are man handling him. And I have not seen enough ability from him the last 2 years to move him back to LDE because I feel that Turk is a better player at that position than Hali is because of his run stopping ability.

What about a 3-4 OLB?
Could we trade him to a team like the Ravens,Cowboys, or Steelers?

Hali
I had wondered if they would continue that experiment from last year. I remember a few games where Hali was standing up behind the D-line and was more successful playing that way. So he might be a better fit and if we don’t want to go that way he might work as a trading piece.

Bust would pretty much describe it.
I’ll also admit that I know next to nothing about MMA. The only UFC event I saw all the way through was a tape of the one from 1996 (I think) where Tank Abbott punched out a guy in less than a minute and Don “The Predator” Frey made Abbott look like a buffoon in the final. And the only reason I really watched that was because I was at a military base in Kuwait and there was literally nothing else to watch on television.

The sport is alot better now
Today there are rules, weight classes, and athletes in the fights. 1996 was when they had 2 fat guys who had a little martial arts exp. battle it out, then if they win battle it out again, and so on.

I am not ready to give up on on Tamba
I too have indicated I think it was a mistake to move him. His natural position in college, where he made all of us drool, was from the other side. The project needs to end now and him moved back to the other side for the Titans game. As far as a Bust, I like mine as D cups…oops wrong usage of the word. He ain’t no Ryan Sims, as we would say in the south.

Has Anyone Heard
If McBride has received any reps at RDE or if its his natural position? Because if he could grow into a quality RDE and we can move Tamba back to LDE, with Tank progressing nicely and Dorsey gaining experience, we’ll be set on the line.
As much as our woeful pass rush is killing me, I really feel we need to concentrate on MLB first. Also, the Gun as LB Coach has to end. Our LBs are over-pursuing and not maintaining gaps and not able to shake off blocks.

It's a shame
Because the athleticism that a guy like DJ brings is tempered by the fact that he has to wait for the play to come to him.
He wants to attack.
