Mock Draft web sites (about 20 of 'em)
I came across a site that has a list of about 20 mock draft sites. It's good stuff. I know this season will be a tough one because all that we have to look forward to, is the draft.
I still wonder if Derek Anderson, or a young (veteran) QB will be our signal caller. If that's the case, we'll look for a impact player on either side of the line.

Check it out! And have fun playing along!

Oh, I know about that site
It is really sweet. And it delivers traffic like nobody’s business.

Kicker?
Jose Martinez Named One of Three Lou Groza “Stars of the Week”
Martinez was 3-for-3 on field goals and 7-for-7 on PATs versus UCF.
Sept. 29, 2008
UTEP senior Jose Martinez has been named one of three Lou Groza National Collegiate Place-Kicker Award “Stars of the Week” for his performance against UCF on Saturday in the Sun Bowl.
Martinez connected from 64 yards, the second-longest field goal in NCAA history without a tee. He also scored from 38 and 42 yards as the Miners beat the Knights 58-13. Martinez tallied 16 points in the game, as he was a perfect 7-for-7 on PATs.
Martinez was one of three finalists for the Groza Award in 2007. This year he is 8-for-12 on field goals and 13-for-13 on PATs. Three of his four field goal misses have come from 50+ yards.
This kid is a very accurate and his kickoffs are generally 70+ yards. I hope that someone is looking at him.

I've been reading a lot of Mock Drafts
myself….anticipating the next season for its something to look forward to. I must say most sites have us chosing Stafford which initally I was opposed to but out of the pool of QB talent I’ve been reviewing – I like his arm. I don’t see many out there putting heat behind their throws and possibly he may have the best arm coming out of the draft. One thing is for sure, I think Tebow would be a horrible selection as his running game will be non existent in the pro’s. And to me that seems majority of the kids game..
I dream we get Oher, but a MLB or DE I won’t complain about. I think we’re looking at 3rd pick in the draft next year and I dont forsee us doing well enough to get the 5th. Is there anyway of knowing the # picks we’ll have next year? I thought I read we still have another late rounder coming from the Bennett trade..
Draft analysis and player coverage is fun and I wished I would had done more last year to see first rounders make their transitions into the league

Stafford is horrible
I was reading that the best way to project how a qb will do in the NFL is to look at completion percentage. He has no control of where the ball is going, so it does not matter how hard he can throw it. He is having a career year this year and it is not even 60%. I watch Georgia football all the time, as they are one of my two favorite teams, and he is horrible and has been for three years.

I read this a lot
And understand it. Don’t believe personally he is the best pick for QB, just noting that majority of the mock drafts having us chosing Stafford or Tebow and if I had to chose one it’d be the former

If I HAD to choose
But we’re still months and months away from the their senior season being over. Things could change.
Or they couldn’t change, who knows?

Projecting to the Pros
Yep if a QB can’t complete more than 60% of his throws in college then you should even consider him a pro talent. The second part of that is games played, because the more tape on a player the better your evaluation will be and the less likely you are picking a one hit wonder. You should look for guys with at least 20 starts in college. (This is for first 3 rounds – after that you can take more risks)

Agreed
I don’t get the hype over Matt Stafford. I think we’re better off going with a different area of need in the first round, and grabbing a QB later on in the draft – maybe a Mark Sanchez or Max Hall.

We better not draft a qb with our #1
There isn’t a qb worth a top ten pick in this draft. Stafford has a big arm . Big deal, so does Kyle Boller. O-line or DE is probably your best pick unless you trade down.
by cmpotter on Oct 7, 2008 10:24 PM CDT 0 recs
Boller
just may be our man next year. Not by choice but I can very realistically see him or Patrick Ramsey for instance being our veteran FA fill-in. Losman, whom we all want, will be sought after by good teams and so the only type of QB’s I can see coming to KC will be the John Kitna types. Old veterans who aren’t good enough to start for any other teams in the league except the worst. I’m fine w/ it too because I’ve resigned all hope for seeing competent QB play out of KC for a while. Hopefully we draft our future next year and have the veteran help nurse them along

Losman
may not be as hard to get as thought. If we want him, we can get him. It just depends on how hard we want to pursue him.

check out
walterfootball.com. They update and rank free agents, and also rank the prospects for each position in the upcoming drafts. There’s a mock draft database on there as well. Pretty good stuff on there in my opinion.
