3 reasons the Chiefs can win this weekend
1. Brett Farve is the definition of gunslinger
Jay Cutler showed that this type of mentality can be destructive against this ballhawking young secondary. They’ll make they’re share of mistakes, but with Coles out Farve will try to force the ball into Jerico Cotchery and Brad Smith the likes of which our corners should match up well against.
2. Ironically enough the Chiefs will be able to run on the NFL’s 4th ranked rush defense
This is probably my most bold prediction but thus far this season the Jets have faced Ronnie Williams, Sammy Maroney, an injured LT, Edgerrin Hightower, the Bengals high powered rushing attack…, and Darren McBush. No combination thus far has the cut back ability or the speed of Jamaal Charles. (Please understand that I know all their names). Those big run stuffers in the middle will over-pursue Mr. Thigpen and probably expose the draw, which is perfect for Charles. (now if we only ran the damn play!) I am predicting that Jamaal Charles has his breakout game on the road. Bring it on!
3. Thomas Jones is a big pile of crap
Even against the Grand Canyons our front 4 give up to opposing backs, Thomas Jones wouldn’t know what to do with them anyway. This guy ran for 67 yds on the freaking Bengals, who are giving up just over 152 yds/game. Now, if Leon Washington gets his share of carries then we might be in trouble but I’m hoping for the prior.
DISCLAIMER: While these are predictions and hopes, I am betting none of these things happen and we’ll lose 24-6 but for what it’s worth at least I can root for being right!

Thomas Jones
He ran for 160 yards last week against Oakland, I’m guessing he will know what to do with a big hole to run thru. And I don’t think that our corners match up well with Cotchery, Smith maybe, but Cotchery not so much. It won’t really matter though because they will run on us all day long.

I think if we can get Thigpen outside with some bootlegs
and run some counters then we could run on them, but not just up the gut.

Agree with that
I just want Charles to succeed and think that would be the way for to do so. Honestly though, their line is playing lights out against the run so we’ll probably have a difficult time.

Jones
True he did do that – but even some guys get lucky. I just don’t think he’ll do that well. Let’s hope I’m right but good call on my mistake with his last game.

Some Big IFs
I fully agree with the Farve comments. IF we can hold the gaps and limit their running abilitily, then we have a shot at some INTs.
On point 2, I also fully agree. With Kolby smashmouthing the yards and mixing in JC, we have a great shot at actually getting yardage on the Jets D. I know that Thigpen will be much better at getting the ball into the hands of the receivers and backs this week. The Jets D isn’t as overwhelming as the Titans were, and he has preped for it this week. I see JC breaking 100 all purpose yards.
I don’t think Jones is a pile of crap, but the one thing we have been crushed on is the run. I’m hoping that this week was spent focusing on plugging those holes. I’d also imagine that we see more blitzing this week. The only way to beat Farve is to make him work to make things happen. If we don’t get pressure, they don’t even have to run the ball, he can cut us apart with the pass.
Keys to the game?
1. Tyler settling down and putting the ball 5 – 10 yards down field to any (KC) player and let them get the extra yards. No turnovers. Patient positive yardage.
2. Defense playing as a unit. Filling gaps, containing the ends, pressuring Farve.
3. Continued (better yet, improved) success on KO and all special teams performance (Go Battle, Barth, and coverage team).
If we do those things, we can win.

No one expects the Kansas inquisition!
The main reason we will win on Sunday is Surprise, surprise and passing.

The four main reasons we will win on Sunday are surprise, passing, rushing, defense and the fact that I am not watching.
