quite a gem from posnanski
he's talking about the ineptitude of the chiefs and how they're historically bad, and I couldn't help but laugh at the following paragraph:
The Chiefs quarterbacks are, in order, Tyler, Ingle and Quinn. You will say now: What are their first names? No, those ARE their first names. Tyler Thigpen is the starting quarterback and, as Joe Biden would say: Bless his heart, but he’s indescribably awful. He’s reasonably athletic, which is good, but I’m not exaggerating one bit when I tell you that he will routinely miss his target by 20 feet. I’m not saying he’s inaccurate, but the only reason he is completing 42 percent of his passes is because, occasionally, he will miss his intended target by SO MUCH, the ball will be caught by another receiver who happened to be trolling the area in case of emergency, sort of like Pete Rose being there when Bob Boone dropped that foul pop-up. The reason Thigpen has only thrown four interceptions is because defensive backs who are nowhere near the premeditated receiver (and are sometimes not even in the game) suddenly and unexpectedly find the ball hitting them in the chest.
I think we need to give Ingle at least another game or two before slamming the door on him forever, but apparently i'm more patient than most. "i'm not saying he's innacurate, but..."
Happy Friday, everyone.

Did you mean Tyler?

I didn’t think Ingle had even played in a game for us yet?

I think he meant Tyler
TheHulk is a HUGE Tyler Thigpen fan. Something about his skillset…

Anyone else notice that none of our qbs went to a D-1 school
they are all championship, or whatever it is called, level graduates. Of these Quinn Gray has been around the longest, 5 yrs. The other two have two yrs of experience. I think this is important as I think they need more time then the big school guys to develop if they ever do. Just something to think about.

God bless you JoePo
I wonder if our sportswriters would be so talented (as well as our bloggers!) if our team was actually good. I tend to think misery produces better quality writing.

TXroyal has a great point
Not that I’m biased or anything. :)
I agree that Thigpen and “potentially” Martin need mentors to work with them and allow them time. Tyler at least, has been pretty much thrown to the wolves as a young guy. There aren’t many, if any, QBs who would thrive in an environment like ours. I’m thankful that Herm is bringing in some Vets to get us through this year and possibly next, but we will NEVER develop a QBOF until we (a.) solidify the line and (b.) get a better QB coach. I’m happy that Tyler is trying and gaining experience, but he just isn’t quite ready. I am excited to see how he does this week. He is a good kid with talent, and needs our patience and a good veteran leader to let him develop.

We Actually Have A Coach Who's Developed An NFL QB Before
It’s just that we have him coaching the wide receivers.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

You're right about the Wide Receiver's Coach
El Paso is my home and I’ve watched Coach Price do a great job with the UTEP QBs even though the rest of the team has not done well. His QBs were always coached up to perform beyond their talent. I’d much rather see him work with the QBs and play a more active roll with them. Eric Price is a solid coach and a real good man. I remember he was also one of the guys interviewed for OC, but I was happy that at least we got him in some capacity.
