Looking towards the future...
... with an eye on a trade.
This is likely coming from discussions on my recent trip to the Phoenix area to visit with old college friends, but I thought I'd throw it out there given our recent need for a QB.
What does the AP Nation think of the idea of trading LJ for Matt Leinart?
Here's my case-
AZ is going to need a RB. They've got a quick back in Hightower, but their big back Edge is clearly on his last legs.
Leinart is on the outs. Wisenhunt does not like him and doesn't want him.
LJ isn't doing anything on or off the field to endear himself to the KC fans or the organization.
Even if we draft a QB in the top of the draft next year, they shouldn't be the starter- we need someone to tend the position for a year or more.
Both teams are taking a risk with this trade.
The big contracts for both players look like they'd play out pretty evenly as far as cap hit goes.
So there it is AP Nation- What do you think?
I've attached a poll for you all to quickly respond.

The Cardinals wouldn't go for it in a million years
Even the Bidwill’s know better than that.

We Don't Want Leinart
Allegedly he’s got a rotten work ethic, a questionable attitude, and really questionable arm strength after breaking his collarbone. Aside from one game against Chicago his rookie year, he’s demonstrated nothing to indicate he’ll ever develop. I think he’s a legitimate bust.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Not to mention
Warner is on his last leg. I thought a report came out a couple weeks ago about him seriously considering retirement at the end of the season after the game in which Bolden went down and was carted off.
I don’t think any franchise is going to be willing to take on LJ anytime in the near future, and I really don’t think the Chiefs would be able to get anything (player or draft picks) that would make it even remotely worth it for us.

He'd be a decent back-up
if he didn’t have the first round contract !! But (yes) he’s a bust as a starter.

Maybe,
If we can get him to redo his contract for the opportunity to start, and he works out good. I think it is premature to say he is a bust. Spend draft picks on O-line and running back. With King Carl at the helm though, would never be explored.

Eh...
I’m not sure Leinhart is the answer. Additionally, I was impressed with LJ’s public mea culpa yesterday. He looked sincere. He look disappointed in himself. He didn’t try to shirk blame. And he was obviously contrite. I’ve been a big detractor where LJ is concerned (as it pertains to his attitude…not his skill), but I’m cautiously optimistic given his speech. With the right attitude, I don’t think there’s any doubt Larry could be positively dominant.
