Herm "I Honor My Contract When I'm in the Mood" Edwards
From http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=easterbrook/081021 -
"That's why Herm "I Honor My Contract When I'm in the Mood" Edwards' decision against Tennessee on Sunday ranks among the worst in the annals of sports. Undefeated Tennessee led 27-0 with five minutes remaining; Kansas City had fourth-and-goal on the Titans' 8; rather than try for a touchdown and maintain some tiny hope of a comeback, or at least salvage the Chiefs' dignity, Edwards sent in the field goal unit. Herm wasn't even trying to protect his team's interest; instead he was protecting his own by keeping a shutout off his résumé. The football gods, disgusted, granted Tennessee another touchdown in just two snaps, putting the visitors ahead 34-3. What a shame Tony Gonzalez, a consummate max-effort professional, was denied his trade request and is now trapped on this team whose coach will not even go through the motions of attempting to win."
At least everyone is beginning to see that Edwards is a terrible coach. What is his problem? Is his IQ really that low?

It's funny but I touched upon this yesterday
I’m glad ESPN saw the same thing.
You play to win the game
Unless…you already gave the other team a record in 2 RB’s yards against you
AND
You don’t want to be shut out 2 games in a row which would be another record since the 1960 Chiefs came into existence.
For Herm….it’s all about Herm.

The headset that Herm wears...
…is it just a prop headset? Maybe he has some Kenny G playing through it. You never see Herm saying anything into the headset nor has he ever been caught looking at his playbook. He just always has that empty look on his face with a gamecard stuck in his pants, walking about aimlessly. Maybe they should put him in a home. How old is he now?

Are you the same fans
that blasted Herm for not sending in the field goal unit against Carolina? Look, I hate Worm Edwards as much as the next fan, but you can’t have it both ways. 27-0 with 5 minutes left in the game? Oh yeah, this team can come back if they just score a toughdown… morons.

Good point...
But I think you have to at least TRY to score a freakin’ TD when you are down by that much. They were on the flippin’ 8 yard line!!! At least give the fans something, ANYTHING at this point. It just seems like Herm and co. give up before the initial kickoff happens. It’s sad…

This Chiefs team makes my head hurt
It’s either the Chiefs or the six pack of NyQuil I just drank… I think I need a hobby.

I Have It On DVD So I Can Watch It Any Time
The graphic novel was better. They left open the possibility that V was thoroughly insane and they didn’t slap a happy fix-all ending on it (which is why Alan Moore had his name removed from the final product). Thus my usage of V’s picture from the graphic novel instead of the film.
You would probably do well with Rorschach from “Watchmen” as your avatar if you’re serious about having access enough to hang pictures in Herm’s office. Sometimes justice must go masked, after all. :)

Don't Know If Any Of You Guys Have Read The "Watchmen" Graphic Novel
But it’s a brilliant piece of work. And I’m not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that it should be considered a classic piece of literature and a true work of art…favorably comparable to any classic story you could name (and I’ve read a great number of them). Alan Moore (who authored it) is an amazing writer.

I'm Anticipating That It Will Be Extremely Disappointing
I think Moore had it completely correct when he said the book was untranslatable to film…unless you wanted a watered-down and corrupted version of what he wrote. I’m also not sold on Zach Snyder telling the story as Moore meant it to be told. Moore’s views were almost the polar opposite of Frank Miller’s in “300”…“300” was very much a black and white “good versus evil” piece of pro-fascism fluff (which is what Frank Miller apparently wanted because he was happy with the adaptation) and I’m concerned that Snyder will turn “Watchmen” into a rah-rah pro-vigilante piece, which isn’t what Moore was saying. Moore’s views in there were much more nuanced than “300”…he was pointing out the perils of extremism in all of the viewpoints of the characters. In a two or three hour movie it’s extremely difficult to convey a complex message. In my opinion, “Watchmen” is simply better suited for either an animated miniseries (preferably on HBO…who did an outstanding job with "Spawn") or to be left alone as a graphic novel.
Of course I’ll go see it anyway, because I’m curious what they’ll do with it. But my hopes aren’t very high. But if Snyder can come as close with the adaptation of “Watchmen” as James McTeigue did with the adaptation of “V for Vendetta” (which was acceptable, although not great) I’ll probably be satisfied. It’s not easy source material for even an experienced director and writer to adapt.

Herm hasn't done a great job this year
But his coaching is like 7th or 8th this year in my list of beefs with the team.
