I personally would like KC to bring in Culpepper(which it appears according to UC's post they are), Gray(as a bakup), Andre Woodson, and Kyle Wright(he has never performed to his potential).

Which do you like and why do you like them?

I Like

None of the above. But Culpepper stinks least.

Subset

Which of the above list have their own health/life insurance?

Culpepper

Is the least sad case of those listed above but he does have a bad knee already.

Why not someone like Lorenzen, maybe a 300 pound QB is what we need in order to survive the kind of attacks that our o-line will surely be unable to stop.

Let's go in alphabetical order,

bring in each one to start a game and see what happens. Bartel, Richard you’re up!

One guy I wouldn't mind is former PSU QB Anthony Morelli

He had a 56% comp rate at PSU the last 2 years. If I were GM this is the guy I would try.

56%

in college is not that good. Next time you want us to sign your cousin, use some better statistics.

Heh

Okay, that was kind of clever (no offense, Jason) :)

No he's not my cousin

but out of the shit on that list, he is some I would throw against a wall, along with Paul Smith and Andre Woodson.

I'm Not As High On Him

But I agree with you about Woodson. Seriously…it’s unlikely Woodson’s going to be as bad as Thigpen.

I wonder if Herm even knows who Woodson is.

Woodson

Honestly I’d take Andre Woodson. The kid at the beginning of his senior year was considered the best qb of his class and heisman candidate. Avoid Anthony Morelli he is just a bigger version of Thigpen. He stares down receivers and makes horrible decisions with the ball in crunch time. Richard Bartel didn’t have a horrible preseason I think and I could be wrong; he had a good game in the 3rd preseason game with the ’Boys. Basically everyone on this list is better than Thigpen.

Morelli Is Terrible

Woodson’s probably worth a look as a project for the third-string. Personally I don’t see any reason for Tyler Thigpen’s continued presence on the roster. The team apparently acknowledges that they don’t want him out there, he’s so far from becoming an NFL caliber QB that it’s probably not worth our time to keep him around next season. We’re better off dumping him and putting somebody who’s a little further up the development ladder in that slot.

Morelli is nothing like Thigpen

He isn’t mobile at all, but he does have a pretty good arm.

Jeff Terrell

Didn’t he play for us in preseason 07? Ivy League guy if I remember correctly. He looked good in mop-up time.

Princeton

He was in the Cowboys camp this preseason.

Get Casey Printers

Even though he asked Herm

“How do I make Chicken Salad from Chicken Shit!?”

Actually

He asked Ray Farmer. Probably because Farmer’s one of the few guys in that organization who knows how to give a straight answer.

Culpepper

I think he’ll come play for KC. He wanted to be a starter and this is his opportunity. It’s a little early to get excited, but Culpepper is a QB that has broken significant NFL records and has gone to multiple pro-bowls. In my opinion, he stinks less than a lot of options right now.

As for other QBs on the list that have decent resumes:

Bruce Gradkowski – had a pretty good collegiate career and has had limited success in the NFL.

Quinn Gray – He’s probably had the most success of any of these QBs short of Culpepper.

by ChiefsDude on Oct 21, 2008 3:04 PM CDT reply actions

Quinn Gray

is interesting because he is one of the more mobile QBs on the list and has had some regular season success. I was surprised that no one picked him up. Gradkowski got lost in the 5 QB Shuffle in Tamba, so he might be better than we think. I watched Tyler Palko some a couple of years ago and I thought he showed promise. Unfortunately, a lot of them show promise until they get in an actual game and the blitzes start flying.

by TheQ on Oct 21, 2008 5:06 PM CDT up reply actions

I forgot all about that

Man, it really has been a long season already. If we were winning, it would be flying by!

by TheQ on Oct 21, 2008 5:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Bring in Woodson

63% completion percentage of his career, playing the SEC. 71 TD passes to 18 picks in his last two seasons. He’s got good size, too. He’s surely not ready to be an NFL starter right now, but he has more potential to be a decent one someday than anyone else on our roster.

There’s really no reason to not bring him in. On his worst day, he’d be better than Pigpen on his best. It’s like getting a free 5th round pick in last year’s draft. (He went in the 6th, but if we had an extra 5th we could’ve taken him then.) Why not pick him up for free? We have the need, he has potential to be decent one day.

by Offense of the 70s on Oct 21, 2008 4:44 PM CDT reply actions

I'm confused

With Woodson. He’s on the Giants PS so 30 other teams have taken a pass on him. And QB is one of those positions that is at a premium.

There has to be more to the story (like maybe he’s not good…I don’t think any of us are scouts or anything).

Woodson

I remember people saying he might be the #1 overall pick. My how the mighty have fallen.

Jeff Terrell was trying to think of his name.

Tyler Palko, I thought he was the heir-apparent to Brees.

I actually like Lorezen

Sure he’s a fatass, but he had a pretty good arm. My guess is they don’t like a guy that immobile though.
