But It's All Vermeil's Fault
The defense is getting worse because of Vermeil. The guy’s only been gone for three years. How can you expect a team to show any improvement in three years? It takes a least five or six decades for a team to recover from a coach as bad as Vermeil. Nobody should ever be held accountable for having to follow Vermeil. Who cares if that loser went to two Super Bowls with two different teams?

HA
I think this wekk all I’m going to do is post the following quote:
“Herm Edwards is the new Art Shell”
Herm Edwards is a retard.

Don't Do That
After awhile people will just start treating you like that “Herm’s The Man” idiot over on the Star message boards. You bring up good points. Keep arguing those…it’ll serve as a better persuader.

Haha I know
I’m just so frustrated. I was sitting at the bar and started rooting for the shutout after the third quarter with the hope that 2 shutouts in a row will ring Clark Hunt’s bells and cause him to make a move ASAP. I didn’t hear the sound this game – were the fans booing? I saw that the stadium was clearing out early in the 3rd quarter.

Instead of that I just changed my signature
UCrawford – One thing I want to ask of you: You seem to be fair when assessing Glen Dorsey – Did you read Whitlock? He basically ripped on Dorsey for half his article. Do you think he’s going to bust? I thought Tank looked pretty bad last year but he is improving. I’m hoping Dorsey does the same. I also thought he had that one good play in the second half yesterday.

Rookie DT
Almost all DT rookies look like busts their rookie year. Dorsey will be fine, also keep in mind he has different gap assignments with the Chiefs than he did in college. This was the one thing that made me hesitate on wanting him in the draft, because his responsiblities are totally different and he would need time to learn.

and some of them are busts.
I’m NOT saying Dorsey is. But I’m concerned with a lot, from his conditioning to the knee to his lack of explosiveness and inability to get to the second level.

If He Plays Like This Next Year
Under a different coach, then I’ll be concerned. Until then he’s not the problem.

I Think Rookie Defensive Linemen Are Usually Projects
I do think Dorsey will be okay. The injury concerns brought up pre-draft concern me a bit, but not too much, and the guy he’s been frequently compared to (Warren Sapp) wasn’t all that during his rookie season. Rookies at positions that require development time rarely concern me if they struggle unless they’re showing absolutely no athleticism in addition to no skills. Dorsey’s showing some athleticism, just bad skills.
I think Whitlock’s comments were valid, but I do, however, think that most of that can be blamed on bad coaching, not the players. I sincerely believe, with the entire d-line struggling, that we should be seriously questioning if Tim Krumrie has any clue what he’s doing when he coaches these guys. Some fans seem to like him because he’s funny in a gruff, psycho kind of way…I’m increasingly of the opinion that he’s just an abusive asshole who likes to scream at players and slap them around and doesn’t have any idea how to make them better or to build on their talents.

And I'm Torn On Turk's and Tank's "Improvement"
Turk seems, to me, to be doing quite a bit better than he was last year. He’s getting penetration and he’s not getting bullied on the line like he was last year, but he’s also not getting much in the way of results. Tank is getting a lot more playing time, but I’m not seeing a lot of instances where he’s especially dominant and since he’s an even bigger part of the run defense (and the run defense for the Chiefs this year is historically bad) I can’t really say that he’s getting results either.
Fact is, Turk and Tank are one half of our starting line and our starting line is terrible. They aren’t getting sacks, they aren’t really pressuring the QB and they aren’t stopping the run. I don’t think these guys are as talentless as this either, so that’s why I’m inclined to blame Krumrie. If it was two guys on the starting line who weren’t getting results, I’d be willing to say it was the players. When it’s all four linemen who are a complete non-factor I’d say that the coaching is probably to blame. The odds of four players drafted with high picks doing this terribly are simply too long not to blame the coaching.

Ryan Simms
Same side of the same coin.

I Don't Think That's The Case
Sims wasn’t that good in college. Dorsey was consistently excellent. I honestly believe it’s the coaching, not his abilities, that are the problem. He’s certainly not the only lineman struggling.
If the rest of his teammates were doing great and he was bad, I’d consider the bust argument. When the entire line sucks, I blame Krumrie…and Herm…and Gunther…and Carl.

It's too early to tell
so I agree to give him more time. He’s just slow IMHO. The first step off the line is the tell tale sign and it indicates whether or not he gets beat. I haven’t seen him be explosive and if that doesn’t change then “Dallas, we have a problem”.

We'll See What Happens
If he ends up being a bust because of a lack of ability then that’s another black mark in the long book of Peterson drafting failures…especially since Sedrick Ellis was available and was doing a great job in New Orleans until he got dinged up again.
But like I said, I’m not even close to writing Dorsey off yet. If he’s this way by the start of his third year then I’ll call him a bust.

Jared Allen
He must have been better in run defense than we thought.
The team this year seems lost, one major problem is we do not have a defensive leader for this team. DJ disapears too much to be the leader and he is the most experinced player on that side of the ball. Hali has become the invisible man on the defense, a blocking dummy could take his place at this point. And almost every one else is really young and too inexperienced to be the leader. We need someone on that side of the ball to step up and be the man to lead them on the field.

I Read A Comment Last Year
Where one team that played us said they geared most of their run plays to go at Tamba Hali because he was so terrible at the run and because they wanted to avoid Allen. From what we’re seeing this year, it sounds like that player knew what he was talking about.
