Matt Moore
Would Matt Moore be a viable option at QB? He came in and played reasonably well when given the chance. He has been around a successful QB in Jake Delhomme, should have been able to pick a few things up from him. When he filled in for Delhomme, Testeverde, he did throw three picks, and five interceptions, there would obviously be some growing pains with him he is also young like the rest of our team. My question would be can he be durable, he is listed at 6'3'',202 pounds. That is nearly the same measurements as Croyle. I will set back and hear your thoughts.

He's had some preseason success
But what does that really mean? Obviously Thigpen isn’t that guy so I would be willing to take a flier on Moore if it cost us nothing. Which it would because he’s with the Panthers now.

Blech
If he was available on waivers, sure…since he would cost us something in trade, no thanks.

I just thought I would throw him out there
He is another young QB, but he is behind a good QB thought maybe if he learned some from Delhomme, he would not cost us major draft picks could be a solid QB.

He's Their QB of the Future For Now
So he’d probably cost quite a bit. We might as well just draft a guy to develop (well, so long as we have a coach who actually can develop a QB).

That is what
I am worried about also. Now if we had a former QB as a QB coach, say someone like Trent Green, I would be a lot more confident in the Chiefs drafting a QB.

I Hear You
Although I’ve heard a few people say that Trent Green should be QB coach, and as far as I can tell he’s never actually coached anyone either so there’s no indication he’d be any better than Curl. He seemed like a smart QB and I wouldn’t be unhappy if the Chiefs tried him, but just saying, let’s not assume he’s the answer either.

Pretty sure the Panthers
would not let him go after being so quarterback poor last year. Moore seems to have a better upside than any QB on the Chiefs roster though.

They've talked
about Moore being their future for the Panthers and I think they’re grooming him to be the man after the Delhomme era. I could not forsee Carolina cutting OR trading him.

Delhomme's Not That Young Either
People sometimes forget, he didn’t get a full-time starting job until he was 28…and that was back in 2003. He’s almost as old as Huard right now, plus he’s had significant injury issues the last few years. So Moore may very well be in their future plans.

To think
JP Losman will be the same age as Delhomme when he secures a startig gig. That said, maybe we should consider keeping Croyle under contract another 3 years to see his full potentail. Not all QB’s, like people, have the same development and maturation rates. We have 3 roster spots for QB (hell we’re using 4 now) and w/ Tyler Thigpen using one of them I think we can afford to keep Croyle long term

We will keep Croyle.
Even if he doesn’t show us enough improvement to secure the long-term starting gig, we’ll keep him as the second stringer

Actually
Losman had a starting gig before, until the Bills brought in Edwards. And he really wasn’t bad in it. Not great, but not bad either…solid numbers.

Losman kicked our butt
his first appearance.
He came in as a backup due to injury and beat us if I remember right.

Why is every one clamoring for another unknown QB?
This guy isn’t more of a prospect than a dozen other qb’s in the league. Huards a very serviceable back up and IF Croyle can stay healthy I see more promise in him than all of these other backup quarterbacks. Especially since we’d have to give up something for Moore this just doesn’t make any sense at all.

JP Losman
is still a good idea. Look at his stats, he progressed pretty well.
http://www.nfl.com/players/j.p.losman/profile?id=LOS588329
If he had played a lot better, he wouldn’t be available at the end of this season. He is much more durable than Croyle and is pretty mobile. Although it seems safe to say he will not turn into Peyton Manning or even Donovan McNabb, he does look like the type of guy that can manage a game. (He had more TDs than INTs in his only full season and in the other years the ratio was just about 1:1, better than most young QBs.)
We should sign Losman and keep Croyle (Croyle will not command a lot of money as a free agent this offseason so what is there to lose). They can compete for the job and let the best man win. Our running game seems to be coming on strong and if we draft a lineman or two (and/or Richardson develops) and improve our WR position after Bowe, our offense should be at least average or better. That is all you need with a good defense (ours will be good with a young LB and DE out of the draft). See, for example, the Giants last year. Here’s a link to Eli Manning’s stats last year:

Definitely
Well argued on Losman. And I agree that Croyle would be a good backup.

I always thought Losman
Had a really poor attitude. I remember a pre-draft special before he was taken where he really came off as a douche talking about how awesome he was. He reminded me a lot of Dan Cortes’ character on “Seinfeld” the “mimbo.”
Now maybe he’s matured over the year. But it doesn’t seem like there are a lot of guys who come into the league with a lot of hype, bust, then come back later in their career and do well. Kerry Collins maybe? I guess Jim Plunkett way back in the day, right? But its pretty rare. The guys that do well that aren’t highly touted draft picks seem to be guys that were never given a shot, bounce around the league, then come out of nowhere to do well – Kurt Warner, Rich Gannon, Jeff Garcia

Gannon
Was actually the starter in Minnesota for three years (displacing Wade Wilson) well before he came to the Chiefs, so he’s an example of a guy who was given an opportunity, didn’t do so well with it then came back to be very good.
And Losman’s performance was pretty solid if you look at his numbers, so it’s not like the guy was crap out there…the coaching staff just liked Edwards better (and he seems to be justifying that). Whether the guy’s a douche or not we haven’t really got any way of knowing, but based on his performance so far I think he’s worth the gamble.

Ask the Buffalo Fans
The Buffalo fans are pretty down on him. May have an upside, but they would be happy to trade him for something. That says a lot more than the stats themselves. Not saying he wouldn’t be valuable to us, or wouldn’t be an upgrade.
My Buffalo fan buddy gets a funny smirk with a chuckle and gets excited every time I mention Losman coming to the Chiefs.

We Wouldn't Trade For Him
He’s an unrestricted free agent after this year, and Buffalo’s unlikely to franchise him since guys who get franchised must be paid the average of the top five salaries at that position (and they don’t want to pay more than $10 million for a backup QB). So I don’t think Losman’s worth trading for.

I think its unanimous
Losman would be the best move/fit for us. He’s relatively young, has starting experience, can throw the deep ball, and is more mobile than the QB’s we have now. In fact he just makes so much sense for us I have refer back to my “Carl’s Law” which states when something feels so right, seems like it fits soo well…………that you know its too good to be true. And I’m afraid that no matter how much Losman seems like the answer for us in 09 (never thought I’d say those words even a year ago)he’s not gonna land in KC. I would want nothing more but I imagine there are going to be several teams interested in him and he’ll go w/ whoever is winning now not in few years from now

He's Going To Want A Starting Job
And just off the top of my head I’d say that would probably put us in a bidding war with Chicago, Tennessee, and Tampa.

Cross Titans off
Nothing’s in stone, but if Kerry maintains his own they’d be stupid not to resign him after next year. As it stands they’ve got QB depth but in the offseason they definitely have hard questions to answer none of which I see coming from the outside. Meaning I can’t see them bringing a new QB into the equation when they have a fold of them now.
Orton I think has won his starting job and no question Grossman will be looking for a new squad next year. Would they bring in Losman to have a competition w/ Orton? Possibly. But if he secures the job this season I don’t think they’ll want to make him fight for it again.
Tampa is the best possiblity. Garcia is dunzo, Griese’s too inconsistent and only aging, and Luke McCown is Tampa’s Brodie Croyle. In fact McCown has been in the league longer and if he can’t win a starting job by next season in Tampa I don’t even know why Gruden bothers. I know he likes his character and somebody that knows his offense and I guess you always need to backups…
San Fransico I think will be most interested in his services

Resigning Collins
If he wants any sort of significant contract they would be wise to dump him. He’s a veteran game-manager. Those can be found for much cheaper.

I believe it was Jim Harbaugh
who said how easy it is to play well as a backup because there are no expectations. When you are the true starter is the real test.

Matt Moore
is clearly the answer at quarterback.
Why?
That’s my name. It would be perfect in every way, except for winning and offense and touchdowns.
