QB Brodie Croyle, CB Pat Surtain, CB Dimitri Patterson and DE Tamba Hali were limited participants in the work. Croyle seems to be throwing the ball very well at this point and Edwards said the quarterback has no shoulder soreness from his work this week. When the Chiefs defense faces the scout team, Croyle moves to another field with a receiver and runs a few pass plays under the watchful eye of QB coach Dick Curl.

Croyle's not playing this week
Then we have the bye after that.
Then it’s decision time.

Projections Have Generally Been
October 19, versus the Titans. That’ll be an interesting test of Croyle’s ability to stay healthy and productive…the Titans’ defense is a sack and turnover producing machine.

Haynesworth.
I’m not sure that’s a fair test for any quarterback — much less a guy coming back off an injury, still trying to settle into a spot, and whose career may depend on the outcome …

Fair
Life isn’t fair, nor do we want it to be…a fair world is one in which you lose at least half the time. And frankly, Croyle needs to start showing that he can play against tough teams. He’s not a rookie, he’s a third year vet and he needs to either show that he can step up against good teams or he belongs on the bench.

+1
Time this season to see what he has, no more excusses. If Huard – a career backup – can move this team and win then Croyle better be able to do at least that much by his third year in the NFL. Now I will give him the rest of the season and even allow some really bad games on his part (even hall of Fame player have bad days) but he needs to be more consistently good than bad.

IMO What a mistake
it would be to bring Brodie back for the Titans game. I’ll qualify that with – If our ‘O’ Line is still struggling (because they did do a decent job last week).
I read (on this site and elsewhere) how most are concerned or question Croyle’s injury history and toughness. It seems to me that last year every single one of our Q.B.‘s got hurt and missed time. Croyle, Huard & Thigpen all sustained injuries behind our line and it’s happening again this year. If Croyle is to be our future (and the jury is still out on that) – why kill him off by playing him right now. I understand that he needs in-game seasoning – but honestly, what Q.B. on the planet could show well given NO TIME in the pocket. (Brady in last year’s Superbowl comes to mind). Personally I’d rather see him back up Huard – which means he will still see plenty of game action – because (realistically) Huard won’t last out the year back there either. As our ‘O’ Line improves and the protection issues get resolved – that’s when Brodie (or whoever is back there) will have a chance to show what he and this team can really do.

So What You're Saying
Is that our team should evaluate the team’s projected QB of the future by only playing him against teams that don’t have good defenses?
Personally, I’m fine with Croyle not playing against Tennessee and Huard getting the start even if Croyle’s healthy. Because that will be acknowledgement by the coaching staff that Brodie Croyle simply can’t be trusted to stay healthy and/or perform against good competition…which hopefully means that we’re not reinstalling him as a starter and we’re going to be looking elsewhere for our QBOTF this offseason.
If he’s healthy and the guy has to be held out of games against good defenses after three years in the league, then what’s the point of wasting any more time trying to develop him?

Promising Except The Last part
“under the watchful eye of Dick Curl”
I don’t know why, but I have this irrational hatred of Dick Curl and for some reason I think he is Quarterback and Offense poison. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Not the only one
I loath Dick Curl, he just drives me crazy when I see him. I hate the fact that he is our QB coach because I don’t feel he is actually qualified to hold that position.
I have always felt that one of the biggest problems developing a young QB on this team is the QB coaches they select. The only good QB coach we have had since Marty got here is the one Vermeil hired and Green liked so much (Shea? can’t remember his name).
If you don’t have a good quality QB coach how is he going to help develop any young talent you might bring in. And for some reason I get the feeling the only thing Curl teaches is how to “not lose the game” and not technique to improve your game.

Is It Perhaps Because
All of the young QBs on the roster (who Dick Curl is supposed to be developing) stink? That’s my primary reason for disliking our QB coach.
So no, you’re not alone :)

Dick Curl - gotta go
Dick Curl kills me… When Casey Printers was with us last pre-season he was the best QB on our team. The QB coach is supposed to see through the clutter of expectations because of the round that you were drafted in, ask the Patriots about that.

Casey Printers
Could not even take a snap consistently! Why is this so hard to see! He did not even do well back in Canada!
