Whats with the Free Agent castoff from Dallas?
That end up becoming pro-bowl players for us(Tony Richardson, Brian Waters) Now we have a young LB in Erik Walden who has looked good for us on Special teams. Every time I look up he's either making the tackle or around the play.
I'm hoping he develops into a great LB for us. This constant shuffling of Free Agents, and the rotation of Practice Squad players may actually turn out some real gems. Maybe we should sign Bartel if the trend is consistent....oh wait...Hoyte was released, so maybe its just luck....or is it?

Are the Cowboys so good
that even their junk is better than us? I think Walden has shown very well on special teams. Not sure if he is getting reps at OLB?

I would disagree...
They started getting better just recently, but they sucked for awhile also. The one advantage that Dallas does have is that J.J. is very aggressive. Both in free agency and in the draft, and doesn’t seem to make the same mistakes twice.
The media down there is trying to stir the pot with TO complaining about being under utilized. I wonder if all the problem childs they have there won’t catch up to them sooner or later.

J.J's drafting success is recent
Look at the drafting record…after Jimmy Johnson left Jerry Jones had NO clue what was going on. He was very, very bad for a while.
But, I gotta give it to him he seems to be getting much better. And that Parcells guy, yeah he built that franchise.

Clarification
Parcells heavily influenced their current team, not the entire franchise.

I think you may have got something, in that the recent drafting success were attributed..
mostly to Parcells eye for talent? He did draft DeMarcus Ware, because he said he reminds him most of LT. DeMarcus has not disappointed so far.
Come to think of it, the drafts under J.J. himself were kinda weak. He tried to wheel and deal, moving up and down the draft trying to emulate Jimmy, and did not turn much other than being interesting.

Hopefully Walden turns into another Maslowski, and not..
into a Manusky (primarily only a Special Teams ace)

Walden has, easily, been the best special teamer thus far this year...
Starting to love the guy.
Even if he never really sticks at LB, which is completely way too early to tell given the fact he is a rookie, special teamers like him always have places on teams.
So, hopefully, he can, at the very least, continue to perform as awesome as he has been on special teams. Then, any production at LB is kind of an added bonus.

I like that little pumping of his (Walden) chest to Denver returner..
When Denver looked like they were gonna break the return for a TD. I saw Dacus get swallowed up by the Denver blockers, and almost out of no where Walden appears to make the tackle.
I’m hoping that the Special teams play is only a glimpse of better things yet to come.

The Cowboys are Stacked
at LB. They would have absolutely no room even for a promising rookie. They have two first round draft picks coming off the bench in Bobby Carpenter and that kid out of purdue Spencer. So who knows, but it doesn’t mean he was trash when they didn’t put him on the 53 necessarily.

I don't know about that...
Isn’t the Cowboys playing a base 3-4 Defense? It would only make sense to keep as many LB’s who can play on the team. I think they just didn’t give him that much of a chance. If Bill P. was still there I would doubt that he would release him simply because of the numbers.

This was from bignoxy's interview with Bob Gretz..
I guess that guy that has grabbed my attention was been LB Eric Walden, picked up on waivers after the final pre-season cut. This is a talented young man, who has already made a mark on the special teams. In practices, he’s becoming more of a factor on the scout team and that’s the surest way to get coaches to start paying attention to you. Reportedly some folks with the Cowboys were upset when Dallas released him and I"m starting to see why.

Too bad on his injury
I read he hurt his ankle in practice and won’t play on Sun. We really need that energy he brings on ST.
