"We've been talking about it for three weeks now, so we've had plenty of time to get it done. In the end, they had their agenda, and I don't know if they were serious about trading me or whether they were just trying to appease me.
"But you know what? I can't cry about it. If anything, this has motivated me even more. I'm a Chief, will be happy to be a Chief and will bust my butt for the Chiefs. I was never not happy being a Chief. I just wanted the chance to spend my last couple of years winning a title, not rebuilding. But I'm here to help rebuild, I'll work with all our young guys and get after it like I always have."

As classy as they come
and he’ll probably live up to his words. There will probably be some extra cheering on Sunday for the fact that he is still here. I can’t help but feel terrible for him though.

Agreed
The national media is running with this “TG is pissed” line but I just didn’t get that vibe. I think Tony’s very cognizant of the business aspect of it and will be a happy Chief. Until January.

if anyone is pissed
it seems to be Herm, at least as far as his comments and body language are concerned. I believe he wanted Tony gone

He probably feels like ‘if you don’t buy into my plans then leave.’ After all what kind of message does that send to the rest of the team to see Tony basically say ‘this is going to take too long so I want out.’ And Herm probably knows that no matter how professional you are if you don’t buy into what management (coaches) is doing then you are not as likely to give it your all. This is just human nature, I do think that Tony will feel like he is giving it his all but his heart will not really be into it.

Disagree
The vibe I got from Herm was that he wasn’t in on the trade in the first place. He didn’t have much to do with it whether he wanted Tony to stay or not.

so naturally he hasn't talked to Tony at all
and has no plans to.
Makes sense to freeze out your one (or one of two) competent veteran…..and yes, I am excluding Larry Johnson from that calculus

I'm a little pissed we didn't trade him too
but if he plays hard and has a good attitude with this young team, maybe it will be a blessing. I agree that we will try to trade him in the offseason, but we won’t get anything close to a 3rd, Carl is dumb.

Bisping is an all around better fighter
BUT Leben hits like a truck, so if he gets an open shot on “The Count” I could see Leben winning. My prediction: Bisping in the 2nd due to strikes.

Yea
BUT all it would take is for Leben to land one. You are right Bisping is very well rounded. Very pompous though.

I agree
I’m a big fan of how Bisping fights, just not him as a person. Leben has been one of my favorites since he was on TUF 1, and since he has changed his training technique and moved to Hawaii he is slowly becoming a better all around fighter instead of a brawler.

Cote has a punchers chance
I doubt he will get that chance, Silva has deadly knees. He has ko power in his hands too. I was impressed with him at 205, the extra weight did not bother him a bit.

First round ko.
The longer the fight goes, it might be interesting then.

I Have
Even more respect for Gonzalez after hearing his comments. And I hope that he plays out his full contract…because I honestly believe that if you get rid of the losers running this team a competitive football team is not as far away as people seem to think it is.

I think we need one more good draft in 2009 and then we can get serious about competing for the division in 2010.

Assuming of course
that either Croyle magically gains Wolverine’s regenerative powers or we strike gold with a 1st round QB pick in 2009.

That Assumes Too Much
Again, management needs to change first. It’s like CBaller pointed out awhile ago, being able to draft talent doesn’t mean a hell of a lot if you can’t draft talent that fits together. And the Chiefs haven’t given any indication that the pieces they’ve brought in will fit together well enough to make this a good football team. And that’s on management and coaching…so until those things change we can have all the “good” drafts we want but we’ll still be spinning our wheels.

I'm still trying to figure out why we needed
two tight ends in the latest draft

Because
We only drafted two linemen. :)
Seriously, though, what I can’t understand is why we decided to draft a second tight end who was so far off everyone’s radar that ESPN didn’t have a draft profile on him and who was still unable to play football because of injuries he suffered in college. Maybe Mike Merritt’s the next Tony G…but somehow I doubt it.

Carl was thinking about how much he liked Dunn
offsetting Tony, he went off the board to find another

Merritt Was Apparently A Good Blocker In College
But he broke his leg in the last bowl game and apparently wasn’t all that interested in going into the draft. Found an article about him and apparently he was planning on training to be a firefighter and some friends and his coach convinced him to toss his name in to see what happened.
