I dont know what to think about this!

as the rumors swirled about trading Tony so he can try to get a superbowl ring i can only say that i was torn. i want him to have a ring, but i want him to be a lifelong chief. but this article i found is pretty interesting and it makes me wonder exactly what carl peterson was asking for in order to trade. now this is according to adam shefter:

" When Kansas City opted not to deal tight end Tony Gonzalez, it was not for lack of offers.
The Chiefs were engaged in active talks with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers. One team offered as much as a third-round pick; another offered a fourth-round pick; another offered a pick and a player.
But ultimately, in the end, Chiefs president Carl Peterson, could not bring himself to trade a player for whom he has a personal affection. Teams tried to pry him loose, but Peterson never could commit to dealing his Pro-Bowl, record-setting tight end."
so what do you think?

We wanted
A 2nd and 5th rounder which is probably about right. I would have taken a 2nd alone or even a 3rd and a 5th.

I heard
The sticking point was not so much how high a pick as they were looking for multiple picks. The Chiefs have had pretty good success in recent years finding quality players even in the later rounds of the draft and with all the needs I think they are still shooting for quality amongst quantity.

Doesn't Bother Me
Right decision for the wrong reason. I don’t think sentimentality should ever be the reason a GM decides to keep, trade or cut a player…it’s their job to win football games first and foremost. But I’m happy Gonzalez wasn’t traded because unless we got a 2nd and 5th rounder it wouldn’t have made up for what we lost.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

"At least we didn't get screwed"
the perfect reason to do nothing.
You could say that’s probably why Peterson still has his job. Ironic, no?
