For starters, the Chiefs cut former first-round pick Napoleon Harris — once a part of the Vikings-Raiders trade for Randy Moss — and the Eagles cut running back Tony Hunt, who struggled to pick up Philadelphia’s offense.

At Least
We don’t have to carry Harris’ useless contract for the next three or four years. That’s what you call a worthwhile cap hit.

Yep
They’re better off taking the brunt of the hit this year while we have cap space than pulling a Kendrell Bell and riding it for a couple years.

Ugh
Kendrell. Now that was a brainless signing. Who gives that many years and that much money to a linebacker from a different style of defense from what you play coming off a serious knee injury?
Oh, that’s right…Carl does.

Not sure on the guaranteed money
I don’t find it anywhere but his bonus was $7.5 million and his remaining contract on 2008 is about 2/3rds of $950,000.
So we’ll be looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of a $6-7 million hit.

Would really like to know the details on the Harris deal
Somebody must have blown a scouting assignment / interview to pay a decent free agent contract for him one year and outright cut him the next.

Someone Must Not Have Even Looked At His Stats
His career high in tackles was 76…four years before we signed him. That’s terrible for a middle linebacker. The year before we signed him he had 42. He was a bench player most of the two years before that. I could see taking a gamble on him with a one or two year deal, but six years!?! Utterly brainless signing.

At least they realized the mistake and did something about it
Instead of letting it linger. Now if only they would do something about McIntosh…

He's Still Herm's Boy
Because of his “better run blocking”. Funny how that run blocking so rarely seems to manifest itself…almost as if it were a figment of Herm’s imagination.

better run blocking, heh
Run blocking… A factor of our offense which we rarely need because we’re playing from behind so often. So running is a low percentage prospect. On top of that, running to the right is an even lower percentage prospect because the right side of our line licks goat nads.
I think his “better run blocking” is offset by his completely “nonexistent pass blocking”.
Helluva reason to keep MacIntrash around.

Roster spot.
As in: That leaves us with an open one, doesn’t it? Any idea on who might fill it?

Chris McDuffie
That would be my choice. I seriously doubt he could be that much worse than Adrian Jones.

It’ll be a practice squad guy.

K. Robinson and Merritt
Coming off the PUP next week.
by ChiefDJ on Oct 14, 2008 5:07 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Anxious to see
what these 2 are about. My heart hopes Merritt is the second coming of Jason Dunn & that Kevin Robinson earns himself a job on kick return. Reading Gretz I got the impression these guys wouldn’t be around next year but hopefully they weren’t wasted picks and can end up contributing
Anyone know much about either one?

Allow me a moment of sadness...

Who are we left with at MLB?
Is Pat Thomas are only MLB? They wouldn’t be stupid enough to put Edwards back to MLB would they, or are we promoting someone from practice squad?
There’s no question we need to draft a MLB
