So what did all the trade talk get us?
Well I am not the best accountant in the world, but my figures indicate it got us approximately 14 new posts and 365 comments. We had the Paradebulation in between posts and people still piling on UCrawford. We had people defending Ucrawfords positions and others offering bong hits to current Chief players. And just think, Chris had no idea when he published this site, thinking it might not be so successful.
But we do still have Gonzo!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

I often wonder
what this site will be like when we’re good. Will we argue and bicker as much? Will the PARADE be louder? Will we have more “yeah’!”s and less “This sucks.” ?
Of course, it’s a moot point since we’ll all be dead by then.

I would imagine less conversation
We can only compliment so many players.
We are all armchair GMs. It’s fun to criticize and say what YOU would do to show that you know what you’re talking about.

Not all
Crawford’s would be awesome. Well, I mean, they’d kill themselves due to his constant criticism and belittlement, but other than that…
And DJ’s would be terrific. I mean, sure, it might be a little conservative, and the line might not be great because he’ll want to only draft, and he’d keep LJ and give him a big contract because he thinks the running game is 5X more important than the passing game, which might impact what quarterback we get, but… hey! It’d be exactly like this team!
Mine would be a CFL team.

Actually
I would have drafted O-linemen with every pick in the first three rounds if it were me. Who needs tight ends?

If You're Talking About This Year's Draft
I’d have done the same…success starts with the lines and ours needed a complete overhaul. Except that I probably would have taken Brian Brohm in the second round instead of Brandon Flowers (only because I think cornerbacks are easier to find than QBs with Brohm’s pedigree…because I think Flowers is a good young CB).

That's
why I think our O-line would be terrible. I’m still convinced free agency is the way to go. Just a personal opinion.

I Don't Think So
In free agency young quality linemen are tougher to come by and you’ll overpay. In the draft once you get out of the top picks they’re quite economical.

It's landing enough
good ones that is the problem. If you’re rebuilding your line through just draft you have to nail every pick. You’re going to have misses.

I'll Admit It
I was wrong about Max Starks. I watched the guy play for Pittsburgh’s line this year…and he royally sucks. Absolutely terrible lineman. He’s a five years younger version of McIntosh, except he plays like McIntosh does now.

But You Know What Just Popped In My Head About The Whole Tony G Mess?
I’m starting to wonder if maybe Carl Peterson is trying to sow the seeds of discontent between Herm Edwards and the team’s most popular player (by not trading Gonzalez and not quashing speculation that Tony’s trade demand reflects on Herm) in order to create a situation where he can force Herm out while keeping his own job.
Just look at the pattern…Carl clashed with Marty for the last half of Marty’s career, Marty had one bad season, there was the big Broncos debacle where DT cheapshotted Sterling Sharpe, then Marty got forced out. Then Gunther took over for Marty, had two mediocre seasons, so before anyone could point the finger at Carl for making a questionable hire with Gunther he dumped him for Dick Vermeil (who’d recently won a Super Bowl). Then Dick Vermeil turns out to be not so great as the Chiefs head coach, he has two winning seasons in five and one very embarassing flameout in the postseason with the 13-3 team (which happened because of the incredibly crappy defense Carl built) so Carl nudges him towards retirement so he can replace him with Herm Edwards because Edwards “has won in the playoffs” (despite the fact that he didn’t win all that much). Now Herm’s looking like a dog as a head coach, the team’s completely in the toilet as the team traded away their best young player in the offseason (largely Carl’s fault), the team’s current icon demands a trade because he’s sick of losing under Herm so Carl doesn’t trade him and lets Herm twist in the wind by having to answer questions about whether or not Herm can co-exist with Tony (even though it was Carl who decided not to trade Tony after telling him he’d seek a trade).
Makes me wonder if maybe Carl’s angling to find another scapegoat in Herm so he can pick the next head coach and try to force the Chiefs to keep him on longer by deflecting the blame for this season entirely on Herm (who deserves his share of blame, but only about half of it).

As long as we're reaching
let’s go ahead and link Peterson to the Lindenburg baby and the JFK assassination.
I see what you’re saying, but you’re talking about a desperately unprofessional move from a guy that you may find to be terrible at his job, but has always been professional and represented the organization well.
Keep your head, UC.

Until It Comes To Dealing With People Away From The Cameras
Do you think that how he handled the Tait negotiations were professional? Or Gunther’s firing? How about publicly shaming Dorsey this year by insinuating that he was a liar for not signing his contract before training camp?
Just because he doesn’t scream and swear at the press conferences doesn’t mean that he’s acting professionally. He’s got quite the history of crapping on people when he thinks nobody’s paying attention when he thinks it benefits him.

Carl calling Dorsey a liar is a little harsh...
Carl just pointed out that Dorsey had given his word that he would be in training camp on time, and that it shows the level of maturity if he kept his up to that statement.
But we all know how good is Carl with contract negotiations. Thats why John Tait is Chicago, Jared Allen is in Minnesota, and LJ is still here in KC :)

Clear Enough To Me
Very blatant dig and it detracted from the great job of signing players that Peterson had done to that point (most of the others in on time, little to no acrimony).

That depends on what kind of sprinkles you use,
You hire an agent to do his job, you most likely have some influence on the procedure, but why hire someone if you don’t think you trust that he has your best interests in mind.
Considering how Carl negotiates, he was signed relatively early for a 5th overall pick.

I Think It Was Primetime
Who compared my belief system on football to Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson’s. And I’d agree with that…I hated the Cowboys teams of the 1990s with a passion, but I respected Jimmy Johnson’s meritocracy. If you produced and were likely to keep producing you got paid…if you didn’t then you either fixed it or you moved down the road. I don’t think it was a coincidence that those were some very successful teams.

You are so wrong.
In Madden 09, my Chiefs are undefeated for 2 1/2 seasons…granted, I made all the starters 99 in every attribute including kicking….but at least I knew which players to make all 99’s. :)

I Don't Do That Sort Of Thing
I make blatantly unfair trades that would never work in real life. :) Like dumping Larry Johnson for Marshawn Lynch straight up (actually I think I got draft picks from it too). And trading a second day pick and Damon Huard for Brian Brohm (who is now on his way to the Pro Bowl, despite his penchant for INTs)…and trading Brodie Croyle to the Dolphins straight up for John Beck.

Awesome. Here's my usual strategy for the past decade in Madden:
I make absolutely everyone on the team 99’s in everything. I rotate through the starters and immediate back-ups on O and D throughout the year, and I make sure that every starter and some back-ups all make the Pro Bowl.
Then I trade as many as I can for nearly every first round pick before the draft…then I live and die by my draft picks. The trade AI is much better now than it used to be and I haven’t been able to pull of the crazy trades like previous years.

Good Strategy
I don’t alter players at all…I just do training each week. I play the starters for three quarters, then pull them for the backups in the fourth if I’m up by more than 2 TDs (or if I’m chasing a record). That way everyone gets some playing time. In practice I focus on the lines. Although for some reason I can’t get my linemen into the Pro Bowl despite having one of the top offenses every year. I guess I need to start using the Lead Blocker function for that because it appears to be based on pancake blocks (which the computer doesn’t do well).

We'll Be Arguing About How Much We'll Win By And Which Seed We'll Get In The Playoffs
Which to me is infinitely preferable to what we’ve had to argue about this year.
We’ll also probably talk more about other teams and who we think we’ll be competing with for a championship…since it would be relevant to us at that point.
Of course there are still two changes that need to be made before all this can happen… :)
