Around SBN: Laviolette out, 'Canes turn to Maurice Bar-right-arrows

Though speculation has centered around such high-profile players such as Detroit wide receiver Roy Williams and Kansas City tight end Tony Gonzalez have surfaced, no star is expected to be traded.

If any trades go down — and they rarely do — they are expected to be of the "B" list players, not the headliners. Players that have been shopped in recent days include Dolphins quarterback John Beck and Lions wide receiver Shaun McDonald. Of course, the interest in each player has been, at best, minimal.

I'd take Beck.

Hell, they can even have Surtain back.

Would you blow the bong with him too?

Beck Would Definitely Be An Interesting Pickup For Us

Wonder what they’re asking for him? A fourth or fifth rounder seems to be the rumored price, which would probably not be a bad deal for the Chiefs.

I'd do a 5th rounder

Probably not a 4th rounder. That would be a pretty good move IMO.

He Was A 2nd Round Pick Last Year

So either would represent an upgrade in value. But I agree that a 5th rounder would be preferable.

Surtain in Green Bay

I’m wondering why we haven’t pursued this (or at least heard about it). The Packers are in desperate need of a veteran until Al Harris gets back and we could use Brian Brohm. Like Beck, that would be an interesting deal.

by dkugler838 on Oct 13, 2008 1:01 PM CDT   0 recs

Agreed

I mentioned it earlier in a post. We discussed it with the Green Bay guys though and they noted that Ted Thompson doesn’t like drafting up into the top five picks, which is what it would take to get Brohm. Now, throw in LJ, Tony G. and Surtain, while swapping picks and that might be a very interesting trade for the Packers. Their running game has been completely anemic, to say the least.

Are you saying

swapping picks while trading LJ, Gonzalez, and Surtain for Brian Brohm? So we move down and get a 3rd string guy for 3 veterans with loads of talent (minus Surtain)

by dkugler838 on Oct 13, 2008 1:43 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Why would they trade a QB

They just drafted a few months ago???

They're not going to give up on him that early

And rookies are quite often third stringers. Many teams want them to sit a whole year before exposing them.

Agreed

He was a much better passer than Flynn in college. So while Flynn might be more ready to play right now long-term Brohm seems to have a higher ceiling.

Blow the bong?

I tip my hat to your attempted slang. And yes, I’d pull some tubes with damn near anyone.

True that

I plan on going to the Tennessee game, so maybe you should get your ass to KC, park (I’ll help pay), tailgate and load up some of that sweet, sweet nug.

I want to create a thread about a potential Arrowhead Pride Parade (aka get together) in the parking lot of Arrowhead.

When can this happen?

by AngryJesus on Oct 13, 2008 6:00 PM CDT   0 recs

We gather

When the PARADE speaks.

That is it.

by primetime 07 on Oct 13, 2008 6:03 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

What if we don't call it a parade

Or even attempt to make it seem as such?

How about a keg or something? I’ll buy.

by AngryJesus on Oct 13, 2008 6:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

And don't think I'm joking.

I’d love to get together with like-minded Chief’s fan on the sacred asphalt that is the Arrowhead Parking Lot.

I will buy a keg if we can arrange something.

And I AM going to KC for the game. If I tailgate alone, so be it.

by AngryJesus on Oct 13, 2008 6:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

The game is in Tennessee this weekend

But I imagine getting cheap tickets to the next home game would be fairly easy.

by primetime 07 on Oct 13, 2008 7:00 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Wait

It’s here. My bad.

by primetime 07 on Oct 13, 2008 8:19 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That Would Be Interesting

If the Chiefs decided to schedule Tony Gonzalez day in Tennessee. :)

You want a Camerohead smoke out?

Dude, we’re blazing bowls in C7 before every game. Usually about 20 minutes before kick off. 19 years of tailgate management and we’ve got this thing down to a science. We know what Herm doesn’t, clock management.

by HIV 2 Elway on Oct 13, 2008 9:00 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

...?

I thought it was in KC

My plans are all f*cked up.

by AngryJesus on Oct 13, 2008 8:09 PM CDT   0 recs

its here

the game is here. I have tickets and will be rolling my bus up there

by skibum1537 on Oct 13, 2008 8:17 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

You're right

It’s here but I will be at the MU/Texas game in Austin.

by primetime 07 on Oct 13, 2008 8:19 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Alright then

Is the state of affairs SO bad that I could walk to the gate and get a ticket?

How far in advance am I going to have to do this? I tend to put things off.

Fallback plan is drinking in the parking lot.

I’m still serious about the keg, if we can get some people to meet up in a certain lot (e.g. Lot B, F, etc.)

by AngryJesus on Oct 13, 2008 8:22 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Don't buy a ticket from the Chiefs.

The scalping market is a huge buyers market. For the Donkey’s game my girlfriend went with $20 hoping to find a ticket, someone ended up giving her one for free. That was before we lost 34-0.

by HIV 2 Elway on Oct 13, 2008 9:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

!!!

I may have to get your cell number
