Was someone trying to set up the Chiefs?
I found this story on Sportsbybrooks.com and I am not sure if it names the culprit or not. I do recognize the name of the blogger, but I cannot tell if he is the one who was trying to get these Chief players to smoke the weed.
Stop the Presses: Athletes Just Say No To Drugs
<!-- foobar -->"Herm Edwards may be a lousy football coach, but he’s a great life coach. Five Chiefs players took in a special NBA preseason game in Kansas City and, according to a fan sitting next to them, turned down the offer to enjoy some “bye week bong hits.”
Larry Johnson, Dwayne Bowe, Bernard Pollard, Kolby Smith and Turk McBride had $200 courtside seats to the Hawks/Trail Blazers exhibition at the Sprint Center Friday night, and apparently had the chance to blaze more than a trail, according to HERM EDWARDS SUPPORT GROUP, a blog with a tasteful URL that I’m shocked Blogspot allows. (Surprising lack of Ricky Williams jokes after the jump.)
Obviously take anything from a blogger named “HIV 2 Elway” with a grain of salt, though it does establish his fan credentials. But he had the story up and correctly named the players at the game before the KANSAS CITY STAR did. And anyone who is that generous with his stash seems like a stand-up guy:
Being drunk and loud, I spent much of the game trying to get the Chiefs to blaze some chronic. I can think of no better way to spend a Friday night than pulling tubes with my favorite football team. Pollard looked interested but, alas the Chiefs were passing on bye week bong rips.
Of course marijuana is illegal under the drug policies of both the NFL and the civilized world, but for the 1-4 Chiefs, I can’t really see the harm in trying something to loosen up the team. I wouldn’t be shocked if Herm, merry prankster that he is, serves some special brownies at next week’s pregame spread."
The last thing these guys need is to be in the news for something other than football performance on the field.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

HIV 2 Elway has his own blog. Glad to see the Chiefs are saying no!

Interesting
but why tempt them? I cannot think of any excuse that would validate the possibility of getting one of these guys into trouble with Goodell.

It doesn't take a lot of brains
to “just say no” while sitting court side. I mean really ?? But handling the situation w/ class in such a public forum ?? Impressive, way to go boys – nicely done !!

....WHAT WASN'T CONVEYED at the SPRINT CENTER...
Pollard raised his eyebrow with the possibility of getting a free hit with his “boys”. He had heard the Chiefs were known for having the best weed in the NFL. After all Bam Morris was known in Chiefs history as the Mam-Bam Masala up until he was busted with 200lbs. of the Midwest Mambo in his trunk.
He looks over at Larry… “Whatcha think man”. Free “Sh!t and all”.
Larry without breaking a smile (not that he has since he had contract in hand) said : “Man, what you thinkin’” " That Sh!@ don’t compare to Herm’s brownies" “Besides it ain’t the pre-game show bro…” as he started trailing off his words and rapping unintelligibly as his “boys” swayed their heads like a poor rendition of “A Night at the Roxbury”.
Turk looks over and says “Ya got about 6 pizza’s wit dat?” “Long as dez ‘bout 5 for me I’ll git da boys to go”. “5 for me and 2 fo dem and weez gots a paaaa-rrrr-taaaaay” as he slaps Pollards and Smith’s hands and then tries to get one from LJ who leaves him hangin.
LJ finally shows his fist and cracks a brief grin thinking to himself
“Yeah, the Celine Dion show’s gonna be fly in this M.F.” “Got me some box seats”
