Suppose Brodie doesn’t get hurt and finishes the season out strong, what do you do then? Do you sign Brodie to an extension or let him go and say that he has already proven he can’t stay healthy for a full season?

If he plays the remaining 11 games
and finishes strong, you keep him.
You also upgrade at backup just in case.

Move him to the bench role REGARDLESS
and get either a FA QB or draft one early who is going to be good and not just a gamble.
Don't forget to send your broken maples to the US Forest Service.

You still draft another QB this year
You do resign Croyle, but he has done nothing to earn a very big contract and really has no leverage to get more from another team.
But you also go ahead and draft another QB fairly high in the draft (not necessarily 1st round, but probalby 2nd).
Croyle will still be the starter going into the season and probably for most of it, but by the time the drafted QB is ready to play, a decision will have to be made whether he should take over or not depending on Croyles play and availability.
