Q: Can you talk about Brodie Croyle’s progress?

EDWARDS: "He’s coming along good. He’s throwing the ball good. Next week we’ll get a bye and that’s another week and then he should be ready to roll."

Q: Yesterday you talked about Damon and if he played well and you won would this be Brodie’s job when he comes back?

EDWARDS: "Like I said, we’ll talk about it after the bye week."

Q: You’re not committing to Brodie?

EDWARDS: "I don’t have to commit to anybody right now. Damon Huard is the quarterback. That’s who’s playing this week. We’ll talk about that when Brodie comes back. I don’t need to talk about that right now. Damon Huard is the starting quarterback right now."

Q: But with the youth movement you’d think you would say Brodie is the starting quarterback if 100% healthy.

EDWARDS: "All that takes care of itself. Right now we’ve got to try and beat Carolina on the road."

I wouldn't read too much into that

He said a couple weeks ago that as soon as Croyle is better he’s going back in. I think this is Herm being Herm and trying not to give away more info than he has to when he has to.

You also don’t want to be sabotaging the guy you have to have start Sunday by telling him no matter how good he plays he’s being replaced when Croyle comes back, even if its true and Huard knows its true. You just don’t do it.

You never know whats going to happen anyway. If Huard is helping the team keep confidence and they are rallying around him, he may decide to play Huard a few games to make sure Croyles shoulder is fine and make sure the team doesn’t feel that Denver was just a fluke.

He can always just say Croyle is still recovering from the shoulder and put him back in when the team has a bad game.

Hurry Back Brodie

Herm is just yanking everyone’s chain. With all that’s gone on this year if he isn’t committed to Brodie then you couldn’t trust him to be committed to anyone or the team either.
