Anyone a gambler here?
Check out the odds on the games here.

I've actually never gambled on an NFL game but I'm certainly not opposed to it. You know...cash flow issues. Beer glove ads don't pay as much as you'd think they would.

by Chris on Jan 5, 2008 12:09 PM CST   0 recs

That's a lie
I bet you're swimming in beer gloves like Scrooge McDuck at this exact moment.

Hahaha
good call on the beer glove, I wonder if anyone has bought one? Anyways, I with you on the jags Chris but i think the Titans are going to beat the chargers. The chargers right now are the over rated team of the league. Sure they smoked there last few opponents, but which one of those opponents were any good in the first place? Their first win against the titans they got into OT on a call that couldnt be reversed that would have cost the chargers the game had it been. Bottom line, if vince plays well, the titans will beat the chargers, and if VY plays his style of football, its going to be an unreal game and he is going to shine in the 4th quarter/OT.

Actually
One of our other SB Nation guys ended up buying like twenty of them for Christmas presents.

by Chris on Jan 5, 2008 12:28 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

I'm the opposite
VY doesn't bring anything to the passing game.  And that's the only way to beat the Chargers at this point.

Kerry Collins has a better chance at winning this game IMO.

RE
Is Vince Young going to play? Is it a game time decision?

by Chris on Jan 5, 2008 12:29 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Game time decision
but earlier this week he promised he would play.

I still want Kerry Collins in there.

By the way
Haven't seen you in a while, Ben.

Haha
yeah I have been writing my final exams for the semester as well as crying inside as the chiefs continued to lose. Well, I was actually pretty excited for the draft postion, but I was still depressed.

by Ben S on Jan 6, 2008 1:43 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Whoops
Had a Sunday game up there. Its fixed now.

by Chris on Jan 5, 2008 12:26 PM CST   0 recs

I took the Steelers
in my office pool.  Everyone is picking the Jags to win.

Interesting side note: No team has ever beaten the Steelers twice at home in one season.

Even without Willie Parker, I'm hoping for the Three Rivers advantage.  If Roethlisberger plays well, the Steelers can/should win.

What are you watching?
KU/BC on ESPN.

I can't handle both KU Bball and Football being ranked in the top 5.  Terrible..

I'm a March Madness fan
Not so much a regular season fan.

Pictures issues?
Just got word from a reader that the images in this post weren't loading for him. Is that happening to anyone else?

Thanks!

The Redskins picture
isn't showing up for me.

Jags Steelers
was a good game. Steelers took away the run and made Garrard beat them. With the exception of a few plays Steelers dominated the second half. If that is what Herm is trying to build that style of play here, we had better get some hard nosed lineman in the draft. I am not real fond of that style of offense that the Jags run, but I love their Defense. I would like to see a balanced attack on offense so they cannot shut down one or the other. Any body elses thoughts.

Jags are awesome
In any other year, they would be one of the top two teams in football with a crew like this.  They run the ball extremely well and play defense extremely well.  That's all you need.

by primetime 07 on Jan 6, 2008 9:15 AM CST to parent up   0 recs

Do you
think Pittsburg took them out of their element, and limited what they could do? Does it scare you for the Chiefs to have this style of play and teams key on the run and shut it down, leaving us one sided with pass only?

by Eric on Jan 6, 2008 10:44 AM CST to parent up   0 recs

D. Bowe and TG
Realistically, by the time we (hopefully) get our act together and begin to become legitimate contenders, TG will be gone.  But D. Bowe will be here.  He's a force for sure.

But, yes, I understand what you mean.  Teams shut down the run for us this year and look what happened.

Here's my thing, though.  I want the old Chiefs o-line.  I want those types of players that even if you keyed on the run and tried to stop it, you couldn't.  Everyone knew we were going to run LJ last year and they didn't/couldn't stop it.

by primetime 07 on Jan 6, 2008 11:05 AM CST to parent up   0 recs

TG
Still has a lot left, I would be willing to bet four to five years. That is if he is not hung out to dry to many times.

I still worry
about Tony in a new system. If we're building personnel to fit a new system, that's when veteran players struggle. There's a solid history of that. The Wayne Chrebet analogy I mentioned got brushed aside because everybody said "But it's Tony!" but we've already seen that the coaching staff prefers to build to system, not personnel (not criticism, different, not better or worse, gotta tread that line).

And again, short pass offense is not fitted to atheltic downfield tight ends like Tony.

Not criticising Herm Edwards for anything since December '07.

by Ridiculous Matt on Jan 6, 2008 2:03 PM CST   0 recs

Well
supposedly this system will cater to the players we have. Of course we were going more vertical at the beginning of the year, we all seen how that turned out.
