Open Gameday Thread - NFL Championship Weekend

V.

San Diego @ New England, 2 PM central time on CBS.

V.

New York Giants @ Green Bay, 5:30 PM central time on Fox

Predictions: Patriots over Chargers, 34 to 24. The Chargers score a late touchdown. Patriots roll to the Super Bowl.

Packers over the Giants, 27 to 21. Eli Manning throws a couple of picks. It's the matchup the media is telling us we all want -- Favre v. Brady.

Your predictions?

Pats and Giants
Pats win by 2 scores.  Eli shows up and finally does what he was supposed to do and the Giants squeak it out.

How come no one mentions
that the Patriots might not lose any next year either.

Even if the Chiefs were good, we're not going to beat the Brady-led Patriots in the playoffs.  So, rebuilding came at a good time I guess.

Watch
the fake 4th and 1

First offensive play
4 wide, no RB and they go deep.

I love their offense.

by Joel Thorman on Jan 20, 2008 2:11 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Wonder if
we will see any deep first down passes? Next season.

by Eric on Jan 20, 2008 2:12 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

You have to be willing to change your
idea of deep.  Next year for me short will be a screen or any pass behind the line of scrimmage, medium is any thing up to 3 yards, and deep is anything over 3 yards.  I think even with these break downs we will be lucky to see two or three "deep" balls a game.

I love their offense
They have the guys to pull it off.

Impressive so far
Either you blitz the hell outta Brady and he burns you on deep one on one coverage with Moss, or you sit back and with 6 dbacks and he goes 26/28 on you.

I wanna
see Rivers get plante, I hate that dude!

by Eric on Jan 20, 2008 2:14 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

LT still not playing
And I would also like to see Rivers get planted.

He's just like that dumb frat guy.

I think
they are saving him some for later in the game.

Rodney Harrison
almost gave me my wish! LT got juked out of his shoes!

Philosophy from Phil Simms
Good, he's pretty qualified.

Man...
Sproles is God

But there would have to be another VOLEKTRIKAL STORM to pull this one off.

Man, where's Chris been this entire game, asleep at the wheel?

Check out my diary for a complete Conference Championship run-down.

Sproles is god
Wonder if they would let him go.

Forget Brodie, Volek's a UFA

by Joel Thorman on Jan 20, 2008 3:39 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Volek is not a good qb
Billy Volek looks like a young Damon Huard.  He's a fringe starter in the league that likely will not get his shot until he is past his prime.  Even so, he does not have a winning record as a starter and really those back to back 400 yard passing games that keep his legend alive were more the result of a then-bad Titans defense and deficits.  I would be horrified if we get Volek, as should any team that banks a franchise on his services.

Sarcasm
Acquiring Volek would mean the front office is in disarray.

by Joel Thorman on Jan 20, 2008 4:04 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Or...
maybe just that they all got struck with VOLEKTRICITY!!!

I don't want him for the Chiefs (unlike Marshawn Lynch who I would trade LJ + a draft pick any day).

But a Volek Superbowl would be great if for no other reason it would kill Philip Rivers.

Were they
ever not in disarray?

That Ford Commercial
Kings of Leon?  Really?  Four years late on that one.

Again...
Mr. Clutch, he is not.

by Pauli on Jan 20, 2008 9:05 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Or is he?
So.. is he still toast?

by AirHead on Jan 20, 2008 9:42 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Perfect example of why we traded Tynes
He misses two game-winners and then luckily for him, Favre gives them back the ball and he redeems himself - but it shouldn't have even gone to overtime.
