Peter King is not a Believer in the Chiefs' Defense

From his weekly predictions:

Two things I'm fairly sure of as a seasoned NFL observer: LaDainian Tomlinson is not washed up, number one. (Breaking news! King says Tomlinson will rise from the dead!) Two: The Kansas City win last week portends nothing for the future except that the Chiefs won't go winless.

Chargers 33, Chiefs 3

I have my own fears that San Diego will win this game by a wider margin than we all think but to "predict" that the Chiefs D will give up 33 is ridiculous.

Peter King, why dost thou anger me?!?!

Peter King...
... has never met a Dairy Queen he didn't love.

Unfortunately I'm struggling with disagreeing with him.

I watched the Tivo recording of this week's game last night after having watched some of the NFL Replay broadcast of the Charger/Pack game on NFLN and I'm scared.

Our beloved Chiefs snuck by the Vikes this week.  There were 14 points that, by all respects, should have been tallied in the Minnesota score.  The Shiancoe TD was a 'jobbing' from the ref's and the overthrown pass in the 3rd Quarter is not an overthrown pass vs. SD.  We got lucky and were able to turn up the pressure once we had the lead.  A win's a win.

SD looked extremely pissed off walking off the GB field and I'm only holding out hope that they'll continue the infighting and bickering with the new coaching staff for one more week and let us come in there and steal a game.

My hope is that we'll get in there, get a lead (of more than 10 points) and then play Herm-ball (field position, clock-eating, maddening ball) until they self-destruct on themselves.

It could happen... or it could happen the other way... we go 3 and out, they score, we go 3 and out again, they score again, and we try and play catch-up as Merriman, Phillips, and Jammer pin their ears back and kick us in the gut.

At this point, I'm inclined to think they're going to tee off on us to the tune of a 27-6 final tally.  Not as dire as the Dairy Queen... err.. Peter King thinks, but still not very good.

Mike Vogel

P.S.-  Anybody know someone in SD who would sneak down on the field and slap LJ in the face a few times???  You know... just to get him nice and pissed off- back to the "Angry young man" we all loved to watch pummel LB's and Safeties!!!  Anything to get him mad.  He's not playing mad right now and it shows.

Like I said in the post
I've got a suspicion this is SD's "breakout" game of 2007. Just has that feeling about it.

Can't be a break out game if we don't let it be
or something like that.

As long as we control the ball, take as much time off the clock as possible, we, at least, won't get blown out.

Our defense can potentially hold them down for a bit, we just can not give them short fields.  Ever. Or we will lose this game.

PK and Bill Simmons = Femine Hygiene Products
Peter King, you are what is wrong with America.
You solipsistic, rotund, short-sighted doofus.
How can a man who consumes that much caffiene be that fat?  Why?  Because I'm sure he overlooks that mound of whip cream he's jabbing up his snout much like he overlooked Donnie Edwards 4 years of practice tackling L.T.  And uhh, fatso no one is worried about L.T. not being washed-up, the 'Peter King' in the room is a certain coach whose name rhymes with Torv Nurner.  Say what you will about Herm, Norv is actively achieving mediocrity and a Solari-like pace.

Furthermore, did anyone see that Bill Simmons ranked the Chiefs dead last?  Seriously, I'm aware of Simmon's and PK's envy to be in Bridget Moynihan's position (9 month's ago) but come on.  After three games they want to give Dreamboat the MVP and call him and Moss the greatest combo since Montana to Rice (Prediction, one of the <del>Pedo</del&gtMassphiles will make that exact comparison within 2 weeks).

I'm as concerned as anyone about the Chiefs this year, but I think our defense, with Jared Allen and Donnie Edwards can contain a struggling but pissed off Sahn Diahgo, feminine whale parts and all.  The question I'm worried about is how our O-line is going to get Merriman's cleat marks off their helmets, and what percentage of the game Huard end's up remembering.

We won't lose by 30
20, I can see, but not 30.

I'm shocked King actually mentioned two teams that weren't either in the NFC East, Indy, or New England.

I still read him every week but I do think he's pretty biased and is way too into himself.  Not just all of his personal anecdotes but the fact that so many of them are about how he's better than somebody else riding the train or drinking their coffee.  Dude, we get it.  Everyone else sucks.

i dont see us getting blown out
hopefully solari has half a brain and we come out throwing deep, we NEED to score first. if we get out to a lead, they will be in trouble, thats all im gonna say. our defense is infinitely better when they have a) time to rest and b) a lead.

i bet they come back at the end and win, but something like 17-14.

We will win
I'm saying right now that the Chiefs come out throwing on Sunday, it will be reminiscent of the Vermeil days.  We will have a 24-10 lead at halftime then we come out in the 3rd and run all over them.

final score: KC 30
             SD 23
