Priest Holmes Needs to Keep His Mouth Shut

Come on Priest. Really?

"Somebody has to get the money," he said. "Hey, if L.J. wants to leave the money out there, guess I'm going to take it. If he wants to come get it, it's rightfully his to take. He's earned it. But if he chooses not to come back, well, somebody has to take it. Why won't it be me?"
Someone needs to tell Prie$t that by ignoring his team and the city for the last two years that he's lost the right to speak publicly about our star running back's contract. You won't be the one getting Larry Johnson's money. If Prie$t has to say this kind of stuff, maybe he should have waited...oh I don't know...until he has actually practiced with the team this year instead of just running sideline sprints.

We wish you the best Prie$t Holme$. But that statement just showed the world why you decided to come back to the NFL. Stop catering to our sentimental side with your I Had a Dream speech and let your actions on the field speak for you. Like you used to do...

Please Priest
DO NOT mess up LJ's already frustrating contract situation.  I'm sure this is pissing LJ off right now, certainly not giving the Chiefs any kind of leverage.  Does anyone honestly think that 33 year old Priest would/could come in and take LJ's job?

*sigh*
It's funny - when he came back, there were so many "OMG, WE R GONNA WIN!!1!" messages all over the place, included in comments on this website. My feelings are a lot more like what is being reflected here :( LJ, Michael Bennet, and Kolby-boy are my three. Just dump Priest while there's a chance.

The Priest Holmes
honeymoon definitely ended with his comment.

No kidding
I defended Priest during most of his injury but I can't defend that.  Seriously, after the team's been paying you to eat nachos for two years you're going to claim that you're ready to take LJs money?  Just shut up.

well put chris
from this article, even if he didnt mean to, all priest looks like is greedy and that he's in it for the money.  It will be interested to see tonight on "Hard Knocks" how much face time Priest is going to get, and makes me wonder if it's all just a ploy to get noticed by some other team willing to dump a couple million on an older, injury-prone running back, who thinks he still has it.

Would we feel differently
if Priest hadn't become non-existent after his injury?  He was a great player that kept this team afloat for a while single handedly, however, I lost a lot of respect for him when he went to San Antonio for all that time and never let anyone know what his future plans were.  Hello?  You were under contract Priest, you still have an obligation to the fans.

You are all missing the point
Priest Holmes sustained a devestating hip injury. He would be still playing had he not. You all seem to forget about what Carl said last year - he said Priest was fine away from Kansas City not drawing media attention/distractions. You see, he got hurt - almost paralyzed. He didn't abandon the team. No one wanted him here after he was hurt. In just 22 months everyone has forgotten how good he was and still can be. If this guy can be even almost as good as before the Chiefs will have not just a power runner, but one who can recieve and block. No offence to LJ, but he is predictable - did you all miss the Chiefs and Colts in the playoffs?

Hey welcome to the site
I want the Priest Holmes of yore to come back just as bad as the next Chief fan. But at least Trent Green could be seen on the sidelines when he was injured. Priest Holmes left the state.

I think our offense was predictable and LJ just happen to bear the brunt of it. Imaginative playcalling would have solved the that f**** playoff debacle this past season.

at mcclurem first, then the rest...
at least there's one intelligent comment regarding that holmes quote. priest -- by the way, putting dollar signs where esses go is a disturbingly whitlockesque thing to do -- has always been a character in front of the media. his statement suggest nothing other than the fac that he is here to play. suggestions otherwise are likely false and certainly premature. his absence from the team was a mutual agreement between him and the organization; his side of it was, as he stated, to not distract the players, namely larry johnson. he's in camp to prove he can make the team. in the event that he does, he'll need a new contract since he re-negotiated to save the chiefs money during the course of his injury. every comment on here thus far, besides mcclurem's is full of hype and foolishness.
