still, i am happy sippio is (apparently) getting a chance.
i love sippio.
in all honesty, the most important part of this game is the play of the young players. specifically, brodie croyle. if we lose, but croyle and kolby and bowe and sippio and page and pollard play well, i will be happier than if they all play like crap and we win.
i hate the chargers and the cowboys...
cowboys just did it, hopefully the titans D can stuff the chargers...
Ha
Perfect timing.
the best part about this game...
they lose this game, and the chargers win, and they are out. at least they should be.
that would make my day.

When's the earliest Long will be able to make a real impact?
Depends on who is still
Does anyone
Drafting a stud lineman won't necessarily improve that for another 3 or 4 years.
I've said this before. What if we land in the 4 spot and it goes
McFadden
Long
Brohm
Dorsey

but other than that, it is without a doubt best player available. i kind of think herm agrees too. DE wasnt a need when we took hali. the 2nd and 3rd round i like taking the BPA, but i dont mind drafting for need.
IMO, rounds 4-7 are for either projects or needs, which is where we should take plenty of o linemen.
i just hope not all of them fail like with dick vermeil...
i would die to have long or dorsey or long, and would be happy with someone like clady or baker or a CB.
I mean
Trust me I like Brodie. It's just that the quarterback talent is so phenomenal this year, I almost feel guilty not drafting one. Think San Diego drafting Rivers. I know they would have been better to stick with Brees, but I'm just saying it's not unheard of to draft the best player available.
Let's say it goes...
Miami
Jets
Rams
Falcons
Chiefs
Niners
Miami has Ronnie Brown. The Jets will probably take Dorsey. Rams have Bulger and Jackson. Falcons will take Brohm almost assuredly.
Don't we HAVE to take McFadden? If for no other reason than to keep the Patriots from getting him with the Niners pick, for the good of the league?
by Ridiculous Matt on Dec 9, 2007 5:08 PM CST up reply actions
oh yea...
he is going to be awesome in the nfl, and we could even play him at QB every once in awhile.
regarding the QB, i LOVE x 100 andre woodson. i am pretty confident he will be the best QB in this draft, im not a big fan of brohm. i think he has a decent chance to have already peaked, and just be a decent QB in the nfl.
woodson has star potential...
so, if we take brohm i will be pissed off. but if we take woodson, no big deal.
in an ideal world, we take dorsey or mcfadden or long with the first round, then someone like brennan in the second round. i think brennan is going to be really good in the NFL...
then focus on the o line and corners the rest of the draft...
I thought

by D Thomas on Dec 9, 2007 5:20 PM CST up reply actions
dont get me wrong...
but his drafting skills and player development were absolutely atrocious/horrible/horrendous, and that is the BIGGEST reason why we suck right now.
we had the oldest roster in the nfl with almost no young depth to build on in the future. that is why we have to REBUILD, we need to shove in plenty and plenty and plenty of talent (mostly young talent) into this team so we can compete in a couple of years.
herm has had to rebuild this team just to get to this point, give him a couple more years to see what he can do with his own team.
his in-game skills suck, but he is doing a very good job (thus far) of bringing in talent.
by the way
But you're right! Dick Vermeil did this! Damn him! Fire Vermeil!
We were totally unprepared today! Damn Vermeil! He did nothing to prepare this team! Nothing! Why, I bet he hasn't even talked to the players! Damn you, Dick Vermeil!
by Ridiculous Matt on Dec 9, 2007 5:36 PM CST up reply actions
you are right...
all i am saying is give herm some time, at least next season, to see what he can do.
see if he opens up the offense, something.
it is never good to make rash decisions on one game, or one long ass losing streak.
he did a pretty good job last season, he deserves another year or so...
See, now that bothers me
And the level to which we got blown out today is disgusting. We were unprepared.
I know the injuries.
I know it's Mile High (kind of).
But seriously? We have 5 first downs.
5.

Herm Edwards had absolutely nothing to do with the play today.
In three years, when we're celebrating our 2nd of 7 consecutive Super Bowl titles, we'll all think about this game and laugh.
Remember, you play to win the game. Unless you're playing the Colts, Broncos, or Raiders.

Let's remember, everyone
There's going to be some growing pains, but just remember, Herm Edwards can draft reeaaaaally well. What goes on in the game has very little to do with actually winning and losing. What's important is how you evaluate players.

It's Dick Vermeil's. Herm Edwards has absolutely no impact on who plays and who does not play. He had nothing to do with signing Kyle Turley, or the defensive scheme this week.
That was all Vermeil. God, do we have to keep telling you people this?

MAWK, seriously, i understand...
herm has yet to have this team play up to its ability this season, besides SD in the second half, and that is all on him.
vermeils win-at-all-costs-right-now didnt help, but herm is responsible for HIS team.
but give him time. rash decisions are never good.
we were in a position to win the afc west before injuries beat the crap out of us. our lack of depth is partially due to the lack of drafting ability of dick vermeil.
i know, i know, i know. vermeil was a good coach blah blah blah...
but vermeil only made the playoffs once in his 5 year tenure with the kansas city chiefs. herm has made it once in 2 years.
give him the same 5 years vermeil got and see what happens, he might still coach like shit but i bet we have more talent.
i understand where you are coming from. herm is far from the best coach in the NFL. he is average at best.
maybe i am just being too optimistic. but i just get the feeling that we have a chance to win a super bowl in another two years. i want to at least try and do it with a lights-out defense (which we are farther from than i thought; we need 2 CBs, a DT and another LB) and a good offense. we still need an offensive line, but it looks like we have the RB combo (kolby and LJ), the WR (bowe), the TE (gonzalez) and maybe the QB. if croyle can continue to improve, which i think he can and will, or if we can draft a solid QB like woodson or brennan or ryan or somebody, we have a solid chance.
i know im in the minority, maybe im the only one, but oh well....

I don't want to fire Edwards. I want just what you said. When Edwards completely sucks, for us to say, "Wow, Herm Edwards coached a horrible, horrible game."
And I'm a little sick of blame being heaped on the first coach we've had to get us to 13-3, when people keep saying "Look at how terrible the defense was!" and then, you know, 41-7.
Edwards is responsible for this team. Not Vermeil. If he doesn't have the talent he wants, he needs to go out and get it.
I'm still trying to figure out why people aren't criticizing him for Kyle Turley getting paid by us.
When we do win games, we win by small victories, barely edging out teams in the last five minutes.
We run draws on 3rd and 18.
Today's not a reason to fire Herm Edwards. Today is a reason to question whether we're heading in the right direction.
Finally, look. I jumped up an dscreamed in the middle of a Bourbon Street bar when the Broncos lost to the Niners. That was awesome.
But let's be honest, here.
We didn't win our way in. Other teams blew it. Saying Edwards made it to the playoffs is not okay with me. I don't buy Herm's little speech.
I want to win our way into the playoffs. Not benefit from other people's losses before getting annihilated in the first round.
Again.
So unlike Eric and D Thomas
I'm saying he's not coaching the players he has well enough to be exempt from criticism.
I'll be patient.
