Quotable

Priest Holmes, responding to a comment that he will have an advantage over defenses because they don't know what running style he'll come with this year.

"All my life that has been an advantage. I don’t see why it would stop today."
I'm actually coming around to the new, awkwardly direct Priest Holmes. This quote is right out of Playmakers.

Update: After I read the above quote, I actually stopped reading the Q&A with Priest to come right here and do this post. I'm glad I went back and finished it though. He hit us with another gem later in the press conference:

Q: Do you think that this blocking unit can work as well with you as the last one did?

HOLMES: "I’d have to say this and they only way that I can answer this question is this: much like any situation I’ve been in, I make people look good. I really do.

Cocky? Confident? Do you think he hits on women like this?

Love him, but still not sold.

However, his quotes = awesomeness.

At least one of our KC RBs will speak with the media.  Even better, he doesn't spew the Herm Edwards contradictory, incorrect, dodging, and oblivious-to-reality rants.

Priest speaks as though he wants to attack.  Herm never speaks or coaches that way, and our other Chiefs seem to bite their tongues, although it is apparent what the think.

I appreciate the willingness to assert our will, rather than saying, "we'll try to keep it close."  Coaches need to inspire confidence, instead of making excuses for it.

Maybe we'll play a full 60 minutes this week because someone other than a stud rookie has the balls to take an aggressive attitude.

Aw Shucks
I was reading a Chargers board after they lost to Minnesota.  Admit it - I am into lurking after a loss.

Aw Shucks.

I do appreciate Huards' even keel about wins & losses, but I am ready for a LEADER on this team to speak up & motivate their peers.  It means something.    As much as I hate Tom Brady & Peyton Manning - they are leaders!!!  We need leaders.  Every team, organization needs leaders. And I think Herm is a leader but we need players to STEP UP.

But anyway - Priest has amazing comeback stories. I would love to be part of another.

Cheers!

You play to win the game!

I make people look good
Kinda like Willie 'Steamin' Beamin from Any Given Sunday.  That's who he reminds me of.

Time for Some Projections
What does everyone expect out of Priest this weekend?  How many carries/ touches will he get?  How many total yards?  And what about Kolby Smith?

I think he gets 20 touches tops.  Total yards I'll say will be in the 80 yard range or so.  Something tells me that Kolby will be what we're talking about next Monday: something like 10-15 touches for 75+ yards.

by KennyGregoryRockThaCradle on Nov 8, 2007 8:30 AM CST reply actions

There will be less than 25 total carries
The Chiefs will be hesitant to put the load on either Holmes or Smith, resulting in more passing and more points.

After this game, people will be saying, "Why haven't we been passing like that all year?"

Thus
the Croyle over Huard talk will commence?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 8, 2007 8:44 AM CST up reply actions

And Huard
will probably play just well enough to keep him in the game.

Commence?
I would say we are fully in that discussion!!

Well
We're talking about it, but now Herm is speaking publicly about it as well.

I think priest
will get between 15-20 carries for over a hundred yards. This is the Denver Bronco run D we're talking about. As for Kolby Smith, I think he will be a pleasant suprise. I hope Huard dosent have to pass anymore than normal because Champ and Dre are still the best corner combo in the league.
Lets just pray Huard goes to Bowe more than once this game, because he could be the most athletic player on our team. For the record Benny Sapp is a baller, i've known it for years {speed, hands coverage, tackling, footwork}.

Injuries
I thought that both Walker and Smith were injured for the Donkeys, Smith is not on the Injury list and it looks like Cutler will be playing (at least until Allen says hi to him a few times...in the not nice way.

Yeah
but like Kennison Smith hasent played all season so he will be far from full stride,(IF HE PLAYS).

One things for sure, their gonna run the bootleg all day long. Thats what teams do against a defence that flies to the ball.

Either way if we dont win this game, we might be watching the Playoffs from the sofa!!!
