Gilbert Harris

Looks like we've got our backup running back for Kolby against  the raidezzz

Anybody else heard of Gilbert Harris before that Whitlock article?  I frankly hadn't even heard he was on the team.  He's a rookie fullback who played his college ball at Arizona, I assume blocking for Chris Henry.  I don't know if I'm exactly excited to see him play, but I guess an extra body will certainly help.

Some more info on Harris:

Thanks
I know nothing on this kid.  Frankly, I hadn't even heard of him until this morning.  Anyone else know anything about the kid?

Harris
Herm talked about him a little bit in his press conference yesterday:

"EDWARDS: "He's a tweener, big and strong. Little bit of a tailback/fullback type. Good hands, big strong running back. I liked him when he came out of Arizona. He was out for a year and then we brought him in. He's another kind who's paid his dues, during training camp, been a practice squad guy. I walked up to him today and he looked at me and said, `I'm not scared.' Kolby followed him and I said, `Ok, it's you two guys' turn. Let's go.'"

Full Name: Gilbert Harris School: Arizona Pos: FB

Ht: 6-1.5 Wt: 235 40: 4.74 Year: 4Sr

Bio: Second on the team in rushing as a senior posting 79/284/5 and 22/107/2 as a receiver. Junior totals included 67/285/2 on the ground.

Pos: Nice-sized lead blocker with abilities handling the ball. Tough on the inside, lays his shoulders into defenders and drives up the field on initial contact. Plays to his 40 time and has a burst of speed. Creates space for ball carriers around tackle and is strong at the point. Shuffles his feet in pass protection.

Neg: Lacks soft hands as a receiver. Must work harder to finish blocks. Does not always play with a sense of urgency.

Analysis: Flashing skill as both a lead blocker and ball carrier, Harris

Thanks DJ
A tweener.  Great, another guy that doesn't fit his position.  Calling Kris Wilson...

i remember him from hard knocks
the backup FB job was between him and boomer, and it was closer than most people think from what i remember.

i like giving him a chance to see what he can do, he might be our future FB..
