No Arrowhead for me.
I grew up poor. That means I always watched Chiefs games on television only. I have never been to Arrowhead. I drove through Kansas City on business last year, and passed Arrowhead on I-70. That's the closest I've been.

Now I can afford to go to Arrowhead, but I need some valid reason for being in KC (other than the game...I'm married, you married guys know how it is..."You're not going all the way over there just for a GAME are you???"). I did get to see the Chiefs play the Colts last January, and I was wearing my Larry Johnson Jersey screaming "HUAAAARRRDDD" with all the other Chiefs fans before halftime. So I have seen the Chiefs play in person but it was never an option to see them at Arrowhead. Until this year.
I am a deer hunter. I hunt every year on my Dad's farm in NW MO. Every year I look at the Chief's schedule to see if there is a home game during deer season. So far, no dice. Until this year.
Every stinking year, the Chiefs are away when I'm in NW Missouri. This year, the Broncos were coming to town. I was coming to town. I was excited. Then we found out that my wife has a benign tumor in her head for which she needs radiation treatments. I am glad that my wife is getting medical treatment, but the little boy in me is crying inside, because not only do I not get to go to the Chiefs game, I also don't get to hunt this year. I know, I know, I need to stay home with her, remember what's important.
Also, I get to see the Chiefs this Sunday when they come to my town to play the Colts. We should probably call them the Co's since they are missing most of their starters, thereby calling into question a Chiefs win ("You only beat us because we didn't have player X, or X, etc") but hey, a win is a win, right? Anyway, I will be there at the RCA Dome to see the game, which is a bigger game for me than the Pats/Colts game a few weeks ago. They are demolishing the RCA Dome in April, because the Colts are moving to the new Lucas Oil Stadium. This will be the last game the Chiefs play in the Dome. I will be there.
I will hunt next year. I will scan the Chiefs schedule in June (or whenever it comes out) to see if they will be home again next year. Someday I'll get to see the Chiefs at home. Maybe by then we will have a solid QB.

No RCA Dome for me.
I went to school in St. Louis so I went to a Rams game one time. I showed up to the game and noticed first of all, there's like zero tailgating. Which is strange coming from Arrowhead. But, once you get inside, all these fans are wearing like khaki pants and collared shirts. The weather is in the 70s. It's weird. And by weird, I mean terrible.
Those dome games suck (except when my HS was winning state championships there).
So, when I think of going to a game in a dome, that's what I think of. I imagine Indy to be more similar, with more artificial crowd noise coming into the stadium.
But playing in a dome is always going to be a point of criticism for me. Peyton gets bigger numbers because he's not playing 3-4 home games a year in ice cold temperature or snow or rain, etc.

Arrowhead...
In 2003 I had the chance to go to a Chiefs game. It was the AFC Divisional game and it was nothing like I've ever seen. I'll try, but it's hard to describe a Chiefs game. We arrived Saturday night and went to the stadium Sunday morning. We didn't really know anyone, but decided to walk through the tailgating lot. It was the best tailgating I've ever been a part of. Chiefs fans were welcoming and we were fed and given beers. Everyone was trash talking, but it was all in good spirit.
The stadium is great, and it had a lot of energy. The place came unglued when Dante Hall returned a kickoff/punt (Can't remember which) for a TD. It was a great football game, and the Colts won so it made my experience all that much better.
After the game, the fans all congratulated us and wished us luck in New England (We all know how that worked out). I've never seen such good sportsmanship from opposing teams fans, and I instantly became a Chiefs fan (except when you're playing the Colts :). I assure you, Colts fans are not as nice as that after a defeat.
All in all, it was one of the best football experiences of my life. It ranks right up there with the 2007 AFC Champ. Game and seeing Peyton throw #49 in the dome.
As for the RCA Dome, it's not really that bad. The tailgating is nowhere near as good as Arrowhead, but thats partially due to the old tailgating lot being used for the new stadium. You may think Arrowhead is loud, but it's nowhere near as loud as the RCA Dome. You may think it sucks to see a game inside but trust me, after several hours of tailgating on the cold pavement of a parking lot, there's nothing like a warm seat to watch the game.

Dome Fans
After writing all this, I re-read your comment and realized that you said, "...after a defeat," so maybe the fact that the Chiefs got spanked helped make the Colts fans nicer. Maybe I will have to report from my hospital room tomorrow evening if the Chiefs win. ;-) Naaaah.
