Now, hate's an ugly word. For some reason in sports, it's kind of fun, and rarely becomes a problem, outside of, you know, the occasional scrotum tear (reason no. 500 I didn't come up to Norman for the Mizzou game).
And I have long hated the Raiders more than any other team in sports. Let me put it this way. I very nearly broke up with a girl in college when I found out she was a Raiders fan. I subsequently DID break up with another chick when I found out she was a Raiders fan. A friend of mine did some heinous shit, and to this day, I say "well, what did I expect? He's a Raiders fan."
The point is that while I have a healthy respect for Raider Hate week, I'm not sure they're our biggest target. I think it's the Broncos.
The Raiders have been so bad over the last five years that I can't name a single player that they have had that fuels my fire. I almost (note: almost) started feeling bad for Gannon, it got so bad. Warren Sapp? Just sad. Joey Porter? Kind of an asshat, but he's never done anything horrendous to the Chiefs. They haven't taunted us because in order to do that you have to make plays and score points.
Then, there's Denver.
Shannon Sharpe. Clinton Portis and the Running Back Championship Belt. Jake Plummer and the bootleg of doom. John Lynch. Champ Bailey. And above all:
The hate is palpable. It has substance. It has a pulse, blood flowing through it. I was raised to believe you hate both teams, but the Raiders are sports evil that must be swept from existence, the Broncos are a talented team that we respect but want to beat.
No, I kind of seriously hate them.
So who do you hate more, right now, at this moment?
