You play to win the game!

Defense - Defense - Defense !
This is going to be a monstrous day for the defense. Rudi will be held to 65 yards on the ground. Ocho and Houch will both reach the end zone in the first half, but lack of a running game will force Palmer to get a little to ballsy resulting in three turnovers, one of which will be returned for a touchdown. L.J. finally gets it going in a big way, racking up 155 rushing 65 receiving and two TD's.  Huard will be Huard, causing an outcry  for Croyle, but through good Defense and the emergence of L.J. he will get the win and another start next week.
Final score:
 GOOD GUYS - 31
 BAD GUYS - 20   0

by mooseface79 on Oct 14, 2007 10:03 AM CDT reply actions

i hate to piggy-back
but moose here basically said everything i think will happen on the defensive side.  we have to keep in mind that there's only so much offense to spread around, and d-bowe is going to make some catches, so  i say LJ w/ 125 yds and 1 td, TG and Bowe both have TDs, final score Chefs 31, Bungles 23.

by thehulk on Oct 14, 2007 11:32 AM CDT up reply actions

34-19 good guys!
Huard- 22-34 280 yds 2TD
LJ- 30 rushes for 138 yds 2TD

Jared, Tamba, and DJ get atleast one sack each

Donnie gets a pick

Rayner 2-2 FG with a 50 yarder.

by stevedebergHOF on Oct 14, 2007 10:14 AM CDT reply actions

TONY
With 3 backup linebackers, the Bengals have trouble all day stopping Gonzalez, especially on 3rd down.  He'll get 10 catches for 120 yards and a TD.  Bowe will also have a big day against their rookie, but LJ will be the last nail in the coffin.  We'll have a lead at halftime and he will bury them in the last 30 minutes.  32 carries for 145 yards and 2 TDs.  Final Bengals 20, Chiefs 31.

by PVChiefsfan on Oct 14, 2007 11:22 AM CDT reply actions

chiefs 24 bengals 20
this will tell us a lot about how good this team is.

if we lose this game, to a team like the bengals at home, then we arent going anywhere this season.

if we win this game, we have a chance in the afc west...

im putting it all on this game.

by rockchalk on Oct 14, 2007 12:02 PM CDT reply actions

Right on
with your assessment of the importance of this game. On paper, we match up really well.

First first quarter points of the season baby!!

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:18 PM CDT reply actions

I'm confused
We don't actually have to start the game behind 10-0?  This might really help us today!

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 12:18 PM CDT reply actions

Well
That was too easy.

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 12:19 PM CDT reply actions

Fuck
Spoke too soon. TD for the Bengals. Thats exactly what I was afraid of! Exactly!!!!

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:19 PM CDT reply actions

Umm, that can't happen anymore
We can NOT get behind 2 scores in this game, their offense is too good.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:20 PM CDT reply actions

To quote myself
on a question of what scares me about the Bengals-

"Quite frankly, a big pass play for a touchdown. I see Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh and think big play. When you're a fan of one of the lowest scoring teams in the National Football League, having any lead is great but having that lead dashed by a 75 yard touchdown pass is absolutely crushing."

Joey Porter/Levi Jones Vegas fight
Just heard that FOX has obtained video of it.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:22 PM CDT reply actions

ughhh
D sucks, corners are a joke, safeties prove their inexperience.
Huard is pathetic with the talent they have recieving.
Mcintosh is a slug and the other side is no better, this is a joke, not sure I wanna waste another sunday watching this shit again

by custerflux on Oct 14, 2007 12:23 PM CDT reply actions

I know, but it just sux
the have the game starting the same old same old....that first drive was cause of penalties, otherwise it'd a been punted form our 40

by custerflux on Oct 14, 2007 12:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Give it at least a quarter
We're still right in the AFC West race, more than a 1/4 of the way through the season.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:24 PM CDT up reply actions

and thats pathetic....
I don't care about division, if we can't beat a mediocre team, it'll just be losing to Indy in the first post season anyway

by custerflux on Oct 14, 2007 12:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Holy crap
Please block somebody.  Good grief.

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 12:25 PM CDT reply actions

Amazing sideline catch.

McIntosh got schooled again on that play.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:27 PM CDT reply actions

Rudi's back
We can't let a hurt Rudi or a back up beat us!  Carson is enough to deal with

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:31 PM CDT reply actions

Two Chiefs players
overran that Bengal TD. Brackenridge showed his youth on that one.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:31 PM CDT reply actions

Jared got him first
and Tamba drilled him.

That was awesome!

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:32 PM CDT reply actions

This is LJ's best looking game.

Don't even know what to say.

They said 2nd sack, isn't that his third?

This is what we need to happen to win this game.  TURNOVERS TURNOVERS TURNOVERS!!!!

3rd down again for the Bengals.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:50 PM CDT reply actions

WTF??
They called it a fumble??

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:50 PM CDT reply actions

New ref
On the radio they said this is the ref's first game as the head official.  He's seemed a little shaky so far.

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 12:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Bad call
He has to catch the ball, with both feet down and make a "football move".  This is coming back.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Stuck without coverage
Appreciate the updates, guys. God to see Jared Allen is killing them.

How's Huard look?

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 14, 2007 12:50 PM CDT reply actions

Not bad
He's playing like Huard so far.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Huard looks good
TD pass to TG, moving the ball okay.  LJ is looking better, not quite at that level yet though

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:51 PM CDT up reply actions

he is still waiting to get sacked
my #1 problem with huard is when there is pressure, he just lowers his head and lets them sack him.

just get rid of the ball!!!

by rockchalk on Oct 14, 2007 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions

I heard for the first time from someone here
That Samie Parker was a track star.  Had no idea, certainly can't tell.

No way this Parker fumble stays.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:52 PM CDT up reply actions

benny sapp shouldnt play again this game...
jared allen is an absolute beast, it will cost a pretty penny to resign him this offseason, but we better... (carl, im looking at you.)

there is no way that samie parker had possession of that ball, it should be overturned.

at least it better be...

by rockchalk on Oct 14, 2007 12:52 PM CDT reply actions

if allen is let go....
I will personally travel to KC and bitch slap Carl.....taking donations for the airfare

by custerflux on Oct 14, 2007 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions

My fantasy team is blowing up BTW
McNabb, Berrian and TG all have touchdowns.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:54 PM CDT reply actions

Doh
I benched Berrian in favor of D Bowe today.  He's going to have to get one or two of his own.

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 12:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Good call
But I hate it when officials make teams use a challenge for what should be an obvious call.

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 12:54 PM CDT reply actions

Big pass to Jeff Webb
He's showing up to play today. On 3rd and 15 no less.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:56 PM CDT reply actions

Cherish that Webb
probably won't happen too often.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:56 PM CDT reply actions

JEFF WEBB!!!!
webb has had a mighty fine game today, hopefully he keeps it up.

with kennison out we need a third option in the passing game.

by rockchalk on Oct 14, 2007 12:56 PM CDT reply actions

LJ run
Fuck! Touchback?

Fumble on the one?

Oh. My. God.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:57 PM CDT reply actions

Oh my god
LJ takes off to the endzone, fumbles into the back of the endzone, touch back...our ball at the 20.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:57 PM CDT reply actions

You probably won't see another
play in the NFL this year like that. He was on the one inch line...

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 12:58 PM CDT reply actions

You wouldn't believe it
but it happened in the Texans game. Andre Davis to the one, knocked out, fumbled out of bounds, touchback.

Did someone just nail LJ perfectly?

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 14, 2007 1:03 PM CDT up reply actions

oh my gosh...
larry larry larry larry larry...

larry is obviously cursed, the one time he breaks a long run for a TD he fumbles the ball.

that play sucks.

by rockchalk on Oct 14, 2007 12:59 PM CDT reply actions

That will get him mad
Maybe it's a good thing in the grand scheme of this game

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:03 PM CDT up reply actions

SURTAIN!!!
but a freaking flag...

five bucks says its on us.

Weirdest thing ever.  "Viva la Revolution!"  Is this legal?

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:04 PM CDT reply actions

Swagger
The D is playing like they did against San Diego so far- they've got a swagger in their step.  You can just tell they're confident in what they're doing by their body language.

by KennyGregoryRockThaCradle on Oct 14, 2007 1:05 PM CDT reply actions

Agreed
I get the feeling like the Chiefs D can break through the Bengals' line at any time.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:07 PM CDT up reply actions

wont be long....
before Chad blows up and ruins anyhope  the Bungles have

by custerflux on Oct 14, 2007 1:05 PM CDT reply actions

If Chad doesn't get the ball
he starts whining!  Big time!  I think that just ruins his game.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Let's relax on the LJ bashin
Could hit 100 yds before half.  He'll get his turn in the end zone (soon I hope!)

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:06 PM CDT reply actions

LJ....
Seems to be finnally getting some push from the OL

by custerflux on Oct 14, 2007 1:08 PM CDT reply actions

Exactly
Unfortunately that's more of a discredit to their d-line than a credit to our o line

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Touchdown Larry Johnson!
First of the year. I don't want any Rocca wear but that was awesome.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:08 PM CDT reply actions

FINALLY
It's good to get that out of the way.  Except I'm playing against Boomer's Boys who has LJ.  Oh well

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:08 PM CDT reply actions

Damon
c'mon Damon! Keep this up, and you'll get the vaunted 1.5 weeks off from me criticizing you! You can do it!

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 14, 2007 1:08 PM CDT reply actions

TOUCHDOWN LARRY!!!!!
agree with primetime, he has looked really good thus far, he just had one bad play.

he hasnt fumbled for 471 carries, it was gonna happen sometime.

ok defense, lets keep it 17-7 until halftime...

WE NEED THIS WIN!!!

by rockchalk on Oct 14, 2007 1:09 PM CDT reply actions

So Question
Is the O-line playing better? Or is LJ just playing like, you know, he gets paid to?

I wish Bear was here for analysis.

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 14, 2007 1:09 PM CDT reply actions

Little bit from column A
Little bit from column B. Helps that Cincy has one of the worst rush defenses too.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:10 PM CDT up reply actions

is playing uncharacteristically bad though.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:11 PM CDT up reply actions

by tailgateandwin on Oct 14, 2007 1:09 PM CDT reply actions

This Bengals D= SOFT
LJ still looks like he's in cruise control today- he's just playing against a pretty poor run D, so he's having success.

by KennyGregoryRockThaCradle on Oct 14, 2007 1:11 PM CDT reply actions

With a back with his talent
maybe a game like this is all he needed you know

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:12 PM CDT up reply actions

And I'm sure fromt the ground

by custerflux on Oct 14, 2007 1:12 PM CDT reply actions

Wish I was there
Dont forget that this game isn't even close to being over.  Their offense can certainly blow up at any time.  We'll definitely need LJ in the 2nd half to SLOW THAT CLOCK!

P.S. Miami really went down hill really, really quickly

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:13 PM CDT up reply actions

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:18 PM CDT reply actions

Bitter Memories
Don't you remember him coming in & schooling the Chiefs last year in Cleveland?  Painful.  They kept talking about his show size - the announcers were obsessed with it.

He had a huge 40 yard run.

Lucky for those who picked him up in fantasy.

Okay. Eddie Drummond is just not fast. At all.

Adjustments for the second half?
And how long should I lay off LJ if we win this game?

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 14, 2007 1:27 PM CDT reply actions

Adjustments
just run the ball.  Long drives are good, even if they don't necessarily end up in points.  Can't give up the big play, but too early for prevent or junk like that.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:29 PM CDT up reply actions

We could stand to
tackle the Cincy WRs better. Although the defense has basically shut them down. I'm just nitpicking really.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:29 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree....
...I pray Law doesn't have any of his "fall downs"....I swear the guy has Narcolepcy

Ballsy
Pass on 3rd and 3 with less than minute in the half.

Another TG catch! 20 yard gain!

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:29 PM CDT reply actions

1:00 left in the half and we pass?!?!
Who do we think we are, an offense!?  This is sweet!!  Utilizing TG?  What a concept!

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:30 PM CDT reply actions

Why Webb?
If Webb is double covered, doesn't that mean D Bowe is wide open?  Or TG?

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:33 PM CDT reply actions

Well...
Probably not enough time to risk it.  I'll take the points.

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 1:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Going for the field goal
is probably the smart thing here. We'll go into the half up 13.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:34 PM CDT reply actions

and lets not get too confident...
Cinnci's offence is VERY capable of making up 14 points.....but if Gunthers D keeps up, it might be a sweet 2nd half

Can I get a grade assessment
on Herm's clock management on that drive?

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 14, 2007 1:36 PM CDT reply actions

A
No mistakes. Players did a good job of saving the clock too.

by Chris Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:39 PM CDT up reply actions

B-
I don't think there were any glaring errors.  Running LJ for 1 yard to start the drive was a bit of a headscratcher but if Wilson holds onto the ball we probably score a TD.

by Pauli on Oct 14, 2007 1:39 PM CDT up reply actions

A-/B+
Wilson's drop hurt, starting off with a run with strange b/c you either are running the clock out or trying to score, not both.

by Joel Thorman on Oct 14, 2007 1:40 PM CDT up reply actions

B+
...it was unlike Herm to go for points, rather than play it safe, maybe he grew some balls.
