Kyle Turley is No Willie Roaf

But I think he will fit in quite nicely at left-tackle, if he does indeed end up at that position.    Jason Whitlock is warming up to the idea of a replacement for Willie Roaf:

Kansas City?s offense can function with Turley in Roaf?s spot. Will there be a drop-off in production at the position? No question. Roaf is a Hall of Famer who made a habit of swallowing Dwight Freeney. Roaf was the rare left tackle who was physical and big enough to excel as a right tackle, too.
I understand the disappointment in losing the offensive anchor in Roaf. But come on, are we really that worried about Kyle Turley as a replacement? I'm not.

Re: Turley
The two years off will be a concern. They should be addressed by everyone who evaluates his performance this year. True, Offensive lineman should be expected to have a career of 10yrs if their bodies hold up, but Turley has failed to be productive for  two prime years. Will it take him only a few preseason reps to regain All Pro status? I think not. He will be a half step slower and needs to gain 10-15 lbs to benefit the position. Our schedule may help to facilitate an easier transition. Softer defensive lines are the rule rather than the exception for the first half of the season. If he can hone his skills, and tune them for the last eight games going into the playoffs, he could find himself in the Pro Bowl again. Soon.

I agree that Turley
has a lot more potential than people realize.  What am I basing this on?  His training camp performance so far a hunch....
